[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Deal ALET!!!! SCAR (Page 2 of 3)

Quoted: swar15: What can you tell me about the dealer/distributor (Guns.com) you linked? I have visited their site on many occasions and their prices are always among the lowest advertised. They are mentioned frequently on various gun forums (and I have never seen any complaints or negative comments) so I assume they are good to go. Are they merely a drop shipper (who arranges for the delivery of your purchase from manufacturer/distributer to your local FFL) or are they an actual brick and mortar business with inventory? How does it work? Make the purchase and payment on their site and then have your local dealer email a copy of their 01 FFL to them? Thanks for any information you can provide. @Escape_from_NY Most larger chain sporting goods stores will price match online retailers Might be worth checking with a Sportsmans Warehouse or other store if you have one close by |

Quoted: If FN wasn’t retarded and released a .300BLK version, I’d snag one in a heartbeat. Then again, if it was available in .300BLK, it probably wouldn’t have as much trouble selling, meaning no 40% - 50% off blow out. For $800 you can have it in 300BO https://deadshotbarrels.com/product/scar-15p-300-blackout-barrel-assembly/ |

I have ordered from them a number of times. The only thing that has ever bothered me about them is their Processing fee. Usually the price is so good that it doesn't make much of a difference. I have no idea if they have a storefront. |

Quoted: Are 11.5 inch barrels available? I'd love that at 11". Even with a can my 7"ar is loud AF. But I still kinda want that There’s a 10” barrel available. No clue if it’ll even work in the 15P receiver. More importantly, it’s only $1300 (when in stock). https://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/98802 |

Very little competition results in little or no desire by the handful of dealers to match prices that are standard fare in the free States. ![]() |

Quoted: ~8” 5.56 shorties are fine. It’s just that whatever FN came up with is ugly as sin. If they made 10” 5.56 pistols and 13” 7.62x51 pistols those would sell fast. https://i.imgur.com/S6cz6pc.jpg They should have went with the SCAR PDW instead of the SCAR SC/15P https://i.imgur.com/YAiUiXu.jpeg Quoted: Quoted: No one, absolutely no one, could have predicted that a 7.5" 5.56 SCAR wouldn't sell ![]() ~8” 5.56 shorties are fine. Quoted: So you’d need to suppress it, and end up voiding the warranty, and maybe shorten the life of the suppressor in the process. Tempting deal nonetheless. I know about the warranty issues (which is super dumb imo). But if you are running a full auto rated can why would it shorten the life of the can? |

Three more inches is a big deal. Ask any woman |

With an aftermarket .300 BLK barrel for $800 that is still somewhat of a good deal. Plus then you get it in a usable caliber for that barrel length. |

| As a millennial, I absolutely lust for the scar platform. I have a 17 and love it. But fuck FN for completly missing the boat and making the scar a boutique meme. Remember when this was supposed to be THE thing, and it was going to be modular with a ton of accessories available? If they would just invest in the platform a little, it could be a serious platform. But, I'd argue the the vast majority of people really buying scars these days aren't buying them for serious use, just because they look cool. The fact that they didn't start with a 300blk is dumb. Even when they announced it, all anyone could talk about was how great the 300 will be. It's not like it was a secret when it was released, and its not like short 556 guns sell well in any other platform. |
|
Quoted: Link to 62gr 5.7 ammo that does 2,250 from a 7.5” barrel. Velocity is how smaller calibers do their damage and at 2250 FPS it doesn't matter if it's 40gr or 62gr it's gonna make a .22 sized hole in somebody and go straight through. You have a glorified PCC that's 170 DB and weighs more. |

Must be a pretty shitty silencer. |

Suppress a SCAR and you break it and they void the warranty. And again you're missing my point, small calibers at velocities below 3k are retarded. 300 blackout was made for this exact reason. |
|
Quoted: They are meant to be suppressed. Why would that break it? SCARs are some of the most durable rifles out there. Lol, someone better tell FN they are voiding their own warranty https://i.imgur.com/aiqDR8y.jpg Anything below 3,000fps is retarded? If you say so. He's not saying that suppressing will break it, but it's well known that fn voids your warranty in you put a suppressor on your scar. Also, the buffer screws are a known week point. Should something break after you mount a suppressor, FN will tell you to pound sand. |

Should something break after you mount a suppressor, FN will tell you to pound sand. The screws are only an issue with aftermarket stocks or if someone is too stupid to recognize a horribly over gassed rifle and replace the $8 gas control screw. The warranty is a none issue. They are incredibly durable guns, you’ll probably never need the warranty. If you do, return it to stock configuration and send it in. I have no idea how FNs unwillingness to warranty use with every suppressor every made has become such a big deal. I’m sure plenty of other manufacturers(maybe all) will also tell you to “pound sand” if negligence or improper use causes something to break. I’ll continue to shoot my SCARs suppressed and never lose a wink of sleep over the status of my warranty. |

All those cool guy accessories and it still has a brace. ETA I guess that is a stock after all. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to adapt the visual aesthetics of a brace to a stock. |
