Quoted:

Momma loves her baby,

And daddy loves you, too.

And the sea may look warm to ya, babe,

And the sky may look blue.

Oooooo babe.

Oooooooo baby blue.

Oooooo ooohh babe.

If you should go skating,

On the thin ice of modern life,

Dragging behind you the silent reproach,

Of a million tear-stained eyes,

Dont be surprised when a crack in the ice,

Appears under your feet.

You slip out of your depth and out of your mind,

With your fear flowing out from behind,

You as you claw the ice.

Not really the darkest song I like; just one I really like a lot. And you really have to hear the whole album, because it builds.

Dogs (Waters, Gilmour) 17:06

You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need.

You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street,

You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed.

And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight,

You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.

And after a while, you can work on points for style.

Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,

A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,

So that when they turn their backs on you,

You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder.

You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you

get older.

And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south,

Hide your head in the sand,

Just another sad old man,

All alone and dying of cancer.

And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown.

And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone.

And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw

around.

So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone,

Dragged down by the stone.

I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused.

Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used.

Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise.

If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this

maze?

Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending

That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend.

And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner

And everything's done under the sun,

And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.

Who was born in a house full of pain.

Who was trained not to spit in the fan.

Who was told what to do by the man.

Who was broken by trained personnel.

Who was fitted with collar and chain.

Who was given a pat on the back.

Who was breaking away from the pack.

Who was only a stranger at home.

Who was ground down in the end.

Who was found dead on the phone.

Who was dragged down by the stone.

Rhyme and Reason

Oh well oh well so here we stand
But we stand for nothing
My heart calls to me in my sleep
Now can I turn to it
Cause I'm all locked up in this
Dark place –– and I do not know
I'm as good as dead
My head aches –– warped and tied up
I need to kill this pain

My head won't leave my head alone
And I don't believe it will
'Til I'm dead and gone
My head won't leave my head alone
And I don't believe it will
'Til I'm six feet underground

How long I'm tied up
My mind in knots –– My stomach reels
In concern for what I might do or
What I've done
It's got me living in fear
Well I know these voices must
Be my soul
I've had enough
I've had enough
Of being alone
I've got no place to go

My head won't leave my head alone
And I don't believe it will
'Til I'm dead and gone
My head won't leave my head alone
And I don't believe it will
'Til I'm six feet underground

"In my grave
Lying wired shut and quiet in my grave

Leave me here
Leave it to me to waste here"

So young here I am again
Talking to myself
A T.V. blares
Oh man oh how I wish I didn't smoke
Or drink to reason with my head
But sometimes this thick confusion
Grows until I cannot bear it at all
Needle to the vein
Needle to the vein
Take this needle from my vein my friend

My head won't leave my head alone
And I don't believe it will
'Til I'm dead and gone
My head won't leave my head alone
And I don't believe it will
'Til I'm six feet underground

"In my grave
Lying bored in my grave"

Leave me here
Leave it to me to waste here"

Reason –– my reason
Take my head off this terror
I'm fearing I'll come back
I'll see
My mind's all wiped clean
The Needle
Make my great escape
I'll see the cold in time
My head leaves me behind
Let me fade away

I seem caught in time
My head leaves me behind
Body falls cold
And I see Heaven

Sabbath......"Hand of Doom"

Whatcha gonna do?
Times caught up with you
Now you wait your turn
You know theres no return

Take your written rules
You join the other fools
Turn to something new
Now its killing you

First it was the bomb
Vietnam napalm
Disillusioning
You push the needle in

From life you escape
Realitys that way
Colours in your mind
Satisfy your time

Oh you, you know you must be blind
To do something like this
To take the sleep that you dont know
Youre giving death a kiss, oh, little fool now

Your mind is full of pleasure
Your bodys looking ill
To you its shallow leisure
So drop the acid pill,

Dont stop to think now

Youre having a good time baby
But that wont last
Your minds all full of things
Youre living too fast

Go out enjoy yourself
Dont bottle it in
You need someone to help you
To stick the needle in, yeah

Now you know the scene
Your skin starts turning green
Your eyes no longer seeing
Lifes reality

Push the needle in,
Face deaths sickly grin
Holes are in your skin,
Caused by deadly pin

Head starts spinning round
You fall down to the ground
Feel your body heave
Deaths hands starts to weave

Its too late to turn
You dont want to learn
Price of life you cry
Now youre gonna die!

I'm noticing a pattern, that just about every song listed deals with heroin use.

Apple of Sodom, by Marilyn Manson on the Lost Highway soundtrack...weird ass movie

I found the center of fruit is late,
It is the center of truth today,
Cut the apple in two,
Oh, I pray it isn't true,

I found the center of fruit is late,
Is the center of truth today,
I cut the apple in two,
Oh, I pray it isn't true,

I've got something you can never eat,
I've got something you can never eat,
I've got something you can never eat,
I've got something you can never eat,

I take my heart and burn myself,
I turn the chord to stunt my growth,
I play to die in space,
So come on me, its now,
So come on me, its now,
Come on me, its now,
(I'm dying, I hope you're dying too,)
Come on me, its now,
I'm dying, I hope you're dying too,
I'm dying, I hope you're dying too,
I'm dying, I hope you're dying too,
I'm dying, I hope you're dying too,
I'm dying, I hope you're dying too,
I'm dying, I hope you're dying too,
I'm dying, I hope you're dying too,

Take this from me, (take me, take me,)
Take this from me, (take me, take me,)

One, two, three,
It is the sweet gone bad,
One, two, three,
You can't learn to –––– stale

One, two, three,
It is the sweet gone bad,
One, two, three,
You can't learn to –––– stale

I've got something you can never eat,
I've got something you can never eat,
I've got something you can never eat, [repeat till fade]

The Pogues - And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda

When I was a young man I carried my pack
And I lived the free life of a rover
From the murrays green basin to the dusty outback
I waltzed my matilda all over
Then in nineteen fifteen my country said son
Its time to stop rambling cause theres work to be done
So they gave me a tin hat and they gave me a gun
And they sent me away to the war

And the band played Waltzing Matilda
As we sailed away from the quay
And amidst all the tears and the shouts and the cheers
We sailed off to Gallipoli

How well I remember that terrible day
When the blood stained the sand and the water
And how in that hell that they called Suvla Bay
We were butchered like lambs at the slaughter
Johnny turk he was ready, he primed himself well
He <showered> us with bullets, he rained us with shells
And in five minutes flat hed blown us all to hell
Nearly blew us right back to australia

But the band played Waltzing Matilda
As we stopped to bury our slain
And we buried ours and the turks buried theirs
Then it started all over again

Now those who were living did their best to survive
In that mad world of blood, death and fire
And for seven long weeks I kept myself alive
While the corpses around me piled higher
Then a big turkish shell knocked me arse over tit
And when I woke up in my hospital bed
And saw what it had done, Christ I wished I was dead
Never knew there were worse things than dying

And no more Ill go waltzing matilda
To the green bushes so far and near
For to hump tent and pegs, a man needs two legs
No more Waltzing Matilda for me

So they collected the cripples, the wounded and maimed
And they shipped us back home to Australia
The legless, the armless, the blind and insane
Those proud wounded heroes of Suvla
And as our ship pulled into Circular Quay
I looked at the place where me legs used to be
And thank Christ there was nobody waiting for me
To grieve and to mourn and to pity

And the band played Waltzing Matilda
As they carried us down the gangway
But nobody cheered, they just stood and stared
And they turned all their faces away

And now every April I sit on my porch
And I watch the parade pass before me
I see my old comrades, how proudly they march
Reliving their dreams of past glory
I see the old men, all twisted and torn
The forgotten heroes of a forgotten war
And the young people ask me, what are they marching for?
And I ask myself the same question

And the band plays Waltzing Matilda
And the old men still answer to the call
But year after year their numbers get fewer
Some day no one will march there at all

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
Who'll go a-waltzing matilda with me?

OH, yeah. The Wall is one of those albums where you have to listen to the entire album, not just a song or two.
