Quoted: This year's run loop was longer than the one that we used last year, but didn't include the wonderful hill. There were 50% more pistol targets than last year, with an additional rifle target, although more of them were at distance than last year, and some changes to the obstacle course, which led to only 2 clean runs this year, down from 5 last year. As some of you know, I love numbers! So here's a not-so-quick summary of the event in digits. I appreciate the stats. I really wish I could've been there this year. Scheduling conflict plus using lots of leave for other things made that not possible. Congrats to the winners and improvers. |

This was my first Cola and I gotta say it was a blast. That's despite the figurative faceplant I did on the rifle stages. I've got a list started of improvements I need to work on. Mistakes were made but I want to drastically cut those for next time.My wife and I are already discussing ways of getting down to East this year. I know I said I probably wouldn't make it but I'd love to try. I could put these lessons into practice and hopefully do better. Also looking forward to seeing all my new cola bro's (and sis's) next time . Thanks to all the sponsors for their generosity. I've never been to a better event where they truly loved the participants and showed it.  Dale, thanks for running a smooth, fun, memorable event. Pics to follow. |

Since you're pretty local, you should try to make it to the Geissele Gas Gun Challenge matches. They're a great way to get experience shooting at similar distances with smaller targets, and I use bits and pieces from Drew's matches to inspire the Keystone shooting portion. The IWI Gas Gun match is another one that's worth checking out, and I'm hoping that Coal Mountain Ranch spins up something that fits into a similar discipline. Even shooting the occasional PRS match could help with some of the needed skills. Those of you who aren't local should still make plans to come and shoot one of these matches. Or find something that's local to you. If it doesn't exist, start working with local ranges or property owners and other like minded individuals to make it happen. |

I finally have started unpacking and and stuff, after doing a USPSA match yesterday (More mistakes were made). I do think the obstacle course was perfect, and vote for that to be the Keystone standard course. Attached File Its funny because I'm wearing a patch that says "they cant force you to wear pants" And a girl with a krink showing off her anime thighs. Attached File This is a good obstacle because it taxes the core and upper body, and as long as you don't have a shoulder that is any worse than mine you can make it if you are very, very careful. Attached File I wasn't arrogant enough to try and clean and yoke walk it this year, but someone else was, so we an 2 for 2 with someone trying that. Attached File I have decided that everyone who completes this obstacle earns the title Peepsketball American. Attached File This obstacle is only hard if you are unathletic and uncoordinated. Great event! Thanks to host, sponsors, run staff, cook staff for the hard work, crazy good food, and exceptional generosity involved to make it such. Also thanks to all the cola bros and sisters, both new and old, as the people attending are what really make these so special. Keystone noods are gonna be fancy. We are having the eggs. We are having leftover meat toppings. The sauce is getting made with chicken stock instead of plain water(Its awesome). I might also make a batch with black and then a batch with 2x. most people will be able to handle the black ones, or a mix of both. The 2x goes hard. I'm using a separate pot and wok and straining the noods. For those noods I made the sauce with water and didn't add any toppings besides the eggs on the side because thats what best met Whisker's spicy specifications. |
