Where do I start? There's a lot of people that I need to thank, and I apologize if I miss some people along the way. First, I want to say thanks to Geissele, their generous prize package and the ability to hold this event at their range. The overall generosity of sponsors, including ADM, Arisaka, Arson Machine, Bluegrass Targets, Esstac, Genesis Tactical, Tater's Welding, Jolly Green Juan, 03screwlariat, Bcauz3y, dspence, and more always continues to impress me. Second, I need to say thanks to my staff - I could not do this without you, and it goes doubly so for the kitchen crew headed up by brodozer, which included bstitch, multisdew, and henny, along with assistance from PA-Minuteman (pierogies) and brasscrossedrifles (noodles). Third, I want to thank each of you who came out and gave it your best (or at least an effort) and made it a memorable event. Mistakes were made - one resulted in what I believe is the first ever 4+ hour computed time in an event, and the other was an attempt at a gallon of chocolate milk. There were 50% more pistol targets than last year, with an additional rifle target, although more of them were at distance than last year, and some changes to the obstacle course, which led to only 2 clean runs this year, down from 5 last year. As some of you know, I love numbers! So here's a not-so-quick summary of the event in digits. The general format for Cola Warrior is 5 obstacles followed by field stripping and reassembling an AK or similar pattern rifle while eating a pack of peeps, running half a mile, engaging rifle and pistol targets, then chugging 72 ounces of soda. Given the scope of the Geissele range, I believed that I needed to deliver more, and I think I did, with an average raw time of 46:01 plus 14.38 penalties, for a total average time of 1 hour 57 minutes and 54 seconds. This was accomplished by more distance between obstacles, a longer run loop and more distance between shooting stages - my watch says .9 miles for the total event - plus a 15 minute time limit on shooting. To ensure safety while moving, competitors had to drop their magazine and fire their last round at a HVT before moving to the next segment of the shoot. A lot of additional numbers follow: 27.78% completed Obstacles & similar 98.61% MTVR 56.94% Not-a-Conex 93.06% Chain of Pain 76.39% Peepsketball (3x40 or 6x25) 54.17% Fuel for the short bus 94.44% Peeps & AK 98.61% Run 47.22% completed short bus (pistol) Short bus was shot, as the name would suggest, from a short school bus and targets were engaged from two positions. The first was at the back of the bus, where the cool kids sit (or so I'm told) and utilized the back door and rear side windows at the first six targets. Prone positions were strictly prohibited to make things a bit more challenging. Targets were spread all over the range with varying levels of visibility for missed shots. Staff and spectators were prohibited from calling any fire corrections, although short target descriptions could be used to ensure that the shooter and spotter were on the same page. 90.28% 353 yard reduced size IPSC (6A at tree) 83.33% 391 yard reduced size IPSC (Explorer) 66.67% 465 yard square (#3; middle of V) 68.06% 491 yard IPSC (#7; near shop berm) 63.89% 525 yard IPSC (pickup truck) 36.11% 549 yard circle (5B; on sawhorses) 36.11% 571 yard 20"square (middle of road) 27.78% 605 yard IPSC (15; below red SD truck) 27.78% 636 yard IPSC (18; super duty truck) 22.22% 665 yard IPSC (along road, above tree) 22.22% 700 yard 24"? square (5D; at rock) 56.94% 191 yard reduced size IPSC HVT (right in front of you) 59.72% cleaned Ambush (pistol 2) Ambush was a simple pistol stage with an array of targets spread out in front you, that were shot standing on the roof of the Geissele box van. 97.22% Left IPSC 93.06% Left mini (far) 93.06% Middle mini (near) 90.28% Square 79.17% Middle mini (far) 86.11% ISPC 79.17% Right mini 63.89% HVT IPSC 28 competitors (38.89%) cleaned both pistol stages, which requires 21 impacts if you're keeping track 30.56% cleaned the rifle skills stage After leaving the top of the van, shooters took cover behind a stepped barricade and then engaged several full size human silhouettes and a 4" Throom target at about 15 yards from a standing, unsupported position, using both dominant and non-dominant shoulders and both sides of the barricade. Then, they picked up a 30 lb ball, and engaged a reduced size IPSC at 100 yards, basically using one hand. Thanks for the awesome event Dale! Big shoutout to the KS Staff and the Kitchen, wouldn't have been possible without y'all! There are things that I need to work on for the next event but had a great time testing my own abilities and the capability of my rifle. Even got a 2L for the second time ever at an event.  Met some new people, caught up with my internet friends I see once or twice a year, made some mistakes, and didn't shit my pants. I hope some of you decided to get a nice holster and/or belt setup for your pistols as a result of this event! Also, get out there and shoot. While the Geissele Gas Gun match might not be in your (relative) back yard like it is for me, there's still opportunities to get out and build your skill set. |

I am quite proud of having been able to overcome earth's gravity through Dale's obstacle course. I am disappointed in my inability to navigate bullets in the earth's atmosphere. This failure resulted in an unclean run, and not truly earning my slot at the 13th Cola Warrior. I'm just glad at least one of the Saturday runners did have what it takes to earn a classic run, because I was in 11th place when I woke up Saturday. 11th place is cringe. |

It was great to see everyone and meet new people! Congrats to the winners and all the runners, it is always impressive to watch others run the course. Huge thank you to Geissele, Esstac, and all the other sponsors. And thanks to all the staff for running this event, from my perspective it went smoothly and was a ton of fun. And of course Brodozer and his staff made some amazing food again! Dale, the obstacles and courses of fire were perfect, challenging but doable, and highlighted my weakness on the long range, I know what to work on to make myself better.
