DC isn't electricity?

Don't speak in absolutes. I am sitting in my camper now.  120v a.c.: 2 Tv's, microwave, refrigerator, dish washer., and airconditioner/HP.

That is incorrect. For the lights, furnace, water pump sure. But A/C's, Fridges, water heaters and outlets can all be 120.

He pulled out the previously installed GE fridge that was 120 volts, because it had quit (under warranty) and ordered a new one from GE.
They seem to have sent a 12VDC unit, and nobody checked the specs closely.
He took the 120 volt pigtail plug from the previous one and installed it where no cord was installed on the power block.

Bzzzzt.

I took out the circuit board and there are 4 blown caps on it, and I can't find any mention of a replacement with google using the numbers on the board, so he's going to have to fistfight GE over it on his own,

Thanks to everyone who read, and all who added info/comments/humor.

smdh....   XD

Post a picture of these caps if you can.   Not because I don't believe you but because 'm interested.

That looks like a hot-glue type adhesive to keep the caps from vibrating rather than capacitor guts... you sure they're blown?

If bil is that cheap, he can pick up a used fridge for next to nothing.

The fuse already did its job.  Just solder a wire in.

Can you post pics of what he did?

If it took 12v dc there would be a 120v AC/DC converter?

How about a model # of frig and I can look it up?

Can't get a decent close-up pic with my S7.
The pic I posted above is about as good as it's gonna get.

The caps look to have an oily foam where I'm used to seeing hot glue to keep them steady, so I assumed they were popped.
Also - the bottom black plastic cover in the cluster of three (two caps and the black cover) in the bottom/center looks split and burned when seen from the side.

I noticed the fuse looking burned, too, but figured that the caps issue was bad enough that the fuse was just one more thing.

I dont know anyone who can do the soldering to attempt the repair, and between my eyes, and old-as-fuck hands, I'm not going to attempt it.
The ball is in BIL's court to get figured out at this point.

Yep.  The fridge in my 24' is electric/gas.  When not plugged into shore power, it uses gas and 12V for the igniter/control board.  When plugged into shore power, it functions as a house fridge.  Lucky for me, the original owner had it replaced 2 years ago when he tried to use it running down the road and fried it.
