The old was much easier for me to read, and fit more info on a screen. I don't know whey they wan't so much blank space. I also don't know why the new font sucks. Maybe the site would be better if I used the mobile site but I use a desktop and everything just flat out looks stupid. Now the site is slower to load and slower to navigate. I'd much prefer the old forum bar across the top to quickly jump around the site I'm not a fan of the pulldown menus. It doesn't matter, both the mobile and desktop look damn near identical. |

Should they bring back the old format? I think the site looks good on mobile devices but it's super slow and loaded down with to much shit. Drop down menus make it much slower to navigate. Site just looks like shit on desktop. Cartoonish with bad fonts and huge empty spaces. There's so many annoying little things that I can't believe this was beta tested. 100% agree. Site loads so damn slow it reminds me of 14.4 dial-up  .

I voted NO and here's why. I so some development when I'm not doing networking stuff and have found over the years that the only true path is forward. It sounds cruel and indifferent but sometimes you have to drag the users along kicking and screaming. People do NOT like change even if 87% of the change is positive. They will always dwell on the 13% they don't like. Developers know this. I have already found lots of new things I like about the new site in the past 30 minutes of using it. I have found some things I don't like (the drop down menu system). Overall the changes are tipping towards the positive for me. Remember, developers like constructive criticism and actionable data. Just saying "This all sucks donkey dick" doesn't give them direction for improvement. So for my constructive criticism: I like the new default font. It works well on a 28" 4K monitor with the browser set at 100% instead of 125 or 150 to make it legible. I stay within a very small subset of forums. Like 4-5 generally. How about an option to mark a forum as favorite (and this feature may already exist and I haven't found it yet) and have that as a separate pull down perhaps colored red or similar bright color. For instance, have a drop down that would show the options GD, TEAM, HAM RADIO, SURVIVAL, GLOCK so I can cut out clicks and not have to hover the dropdown, click OUTDOOR, then click HAM RADIO. It would be hover the new favorites dropdown, click HAM RADIO. Don;t get me wrong, the new drop down system is perfectly usable once I get used to it. I just like 99.87% efficiency. Now off to see if something like this already exists. Isn't that what the "My Board" feature is for? Seems to have persisted with the change. So far the positives I see are the selective quote viewing and posting feature (hopefully this means that the five quote limit is finally gone), the button to go back to the top, and the ability to directly upload pics. It also works better on my Blackberry than the old site. I also like how polls display, but don't care for them being on the first page only. Everything else about it sucks so far. The old site seems to be superior in most respects. |

The site is nearly unusable for me on mobile and frankly ugly and awkward on anything else. You don't go making huge sweeping changes to a product with thousands of concurrent users - you make iterative changes. |

Add that to the 100 other issues with the new roll out. I think the Obamacare website was developed and implemented better. |

Idk what kinda changes they made under the hood to this site but it has royally jacked up browsing it on my phone. I used to be able to browse arf for days without any impact on my phone's battery. All of a sudden my phone is acting like a note 7 and burning up and my battery is immediately taking a hit. I turn off everything but the browser on Android and I see my cpu going nuts when I go to arf mobile. Even tried using opera mini to limit data and it still sends cpu to percentages I rarely see unless I run a game.
Eta. I am literally charging my phone at 5 pm which I have never had to do and all that has changed today is arf's new mobile layout. Which isn't really all that bad to me besides the tiny font, just wish whatever was running on this site would not kill my battery. |

New site format is terrible. Would greatly prefer an option to go back.
That said....I have been using the ARL site mirror with an element blocker most of the day to get rid of the embedded pictures and am actually pretty happy with the outcome. Unless the option changes to bring back the old board I will just use the ARL or JRS mirror site with an element blocker from here on out. |
