Descriptions from those claiming encounters vary, but several witnesses have reported seeing a tall figure, anywhere from between six and 10 feet in height, covered in dark hair. In one account from Garrettsville, two hikers described coming face-to-face with something they could not identify, adding to a growing list of similar reports. The claims have drawn the attention of local researchers, including Mike Miller, co-founder of the Ohio Nightstalkers Bigfoot Research Group, who has been tracking the recent activity. Ohio already ranks among the top states for reported Bigfoot sightings, placing fourth nationally, and Miller said the current spike bears similarities to past clusters of sightings in the region. 'This isn't the first time we've seen something like this,' Miller said to Fox 8 noting that the last concentrated wave, often referred to by enthusiasts as a 'flap', occurred in 1978 following a severe winter season. This year's winter has also been marked by intense weather, with multiple snowstorms sweeping across the region. Miller suggested that environmental disruption could play a role in driving wildlife, or whatever may be responsible, closer to populated areas. 'It could be rearing young in that area or it's just, you know, you're in their area and they want you to go,' Miller said. Adding to the mystery are reports of unusual sounds echoing through woods in the area. Miller said he has recorded vocalizations that he believes do not match any known animal species in North America. 'Some of those screams pegged higher than a baboon on the spectograph, and that is evidence,' he said. The reports have also caught the attention of Jeremiah Byron, host of the Bigfoot Society podcast, who has been collecting and analyzing witness accounts. He highlighted one report in particular involving hikers who described the figure moving in an unusual way. 'That's a very important detail which hardcore Bigfooters will realize that that's pretty crazy,' Byron said, referring to the claim that the creature appeared to turn with its shoulders rather than its neck. In a follow-up conversation, one of the hikers told Byron: 'I know what I saw, but I don't know what I saw.' Each witness, Byron said, is a local familiar with rural Ohio wildlife, and all described similar sightings: large, black-haired creatures with long arms, walking upright and making 'grunting noises.' 'The current generation of Bigfoot enthusiasts, including myself, have never lived through a sighting flap like this, and we are extremely excited to potentially to get substantial evidence through this,' he told Newsweek earlier this year. One researcher, who reported the sighting to the Bigfoot Mapping Project, said he was hiking when he spotted the large creature standing about 120 yards away - and that the beast appeared to know he was there. He shared: 'It started moving away. It left fast and I left just as fast.' Byron also spoke with two individuals over the phone - one choosing to remain anonymous and another named Jacob Taylor - who recounted their encounter while hiking Headwaters Trail. The anonymous witness said that while hiking a wooded trail at around 11.47am, he and Taylor saw movement in trees about 30ft ahead. Covered in black hair and around 8ft to 10ft tall, the figure - similar to the others - stood for several seconds while they looked on in awe. The witness said the figure had broad shoulders and 'unusually long' arms, and walked upright on two legs with such weight that the ground shook slightly as it passed between the trees. 'We also noticed a strong, musky smell in the air,' the witness said. 'It turned its head toward us, let out a deep, grunt-like noise, and then quickly stepped back into the trees. 'We were both pretty shaken up and didn't approach the area any closer,' the hiker added. 'It all happened so quick.' During the phone call, Byron said the witness appeared genuine and visibly shaken. Encounters have been reported in Mantua, Garrettsville, Streetsboro, Windham, Newton Township and Lake Milton. With reports on the rise, Byron said he must tread carefully. He explained that a growing number of reports and photos are AI-generated - some created years ago, others more recently - and that he attempts to screen each person before engaging further. Once the submission passes screening, he conducts a phone interview while coordinating with a local Ohio researcher to follow up and investigate possible physical evidence. Despite the growing number of reports, no clear photographic evidence has emerged and it is that fact which continues to fuel skepticism. Still, the combination of footprints, audio recordings and eyewitness accounts has been enough to keep the mystery alive. Northeast Ohio's dense forests and rural landscapes have long made it a hotspot for alleged sightings, and the latest wave has reignited debate over whether something unexplained is moving through the region. Officials have not confirmed the presence of any unknown creature, and no formal investigation has been announced. " |
| I watched some AI analysis of Bigfoot sightings and patterns just out of curiosity, It said the one pattern that emerged was sightings most consistently appeared in areas in advance of economic strife or breakdown. If your town has a bunch of Bigfoot sightings, might be likely the town industry is about to pack up. |

They were tracking Bears moving through the area on home security cams. It made the news for almost a week. |

They're still doing this? I kind of noticed those unsolved mysteries type phenomenon have mostly been debunked due the proliferation of smart phones and instantly video taping things. It used to be grainy VHS videos that made it appear questionable but everyone knew it was fake content but people loved to watch and hear about it. I think these days people are concluding if these things were indeed real, a lot more people would have video footages of it instead of just offhand reports. For some smaller towns out there these kind of things brought in money for them. I think at this point people aren't coming by any more as they used to. |

A large percentage of the population in NEO have never experienced normal bear encounters/sightings like in other parts of the country where it's much more common. So, it's always a samsquanch. Heck, I almost never see bears at my place in WV and it's in the middle of the Monongahela National Forest. I've got eight security cameras around my property and they have never once in 11 years recorded a bear. But I don't have bird or deer feeders that attract them. I've seen exactly one in the wild while trout fishing back on the river in Smoke Hole. Now, the Allegheny national Forest in PA is crawling with bears. I saw more in one backpacking trip there than I've seen in 30 years in WV. |

In my opinion you have to have your phone already out filming because if it's in your pocket you won't get them on film . That's why it's a lot of witness testimony . I have been ready the last few times now walking with my pup hoping to get a wolf pack but the last two times I saw them they were gone before I could get my phone out and film them .
