Both crews make way too much noise and I don`t see any attempt to carry out any kind of scent control. Honestly I never cared for bigfoot stuff until after I started reading that 50 page thread about it. My favorite cryptid was always the "Cherokee Death Cat". ETA: I also had that thought when I learned about them being unarmed. If finding bigfoot guys actually believe a bigfoot could exist, why aren't they armed? I talked to KampusKop earlier about his experience and we both agreed you'd have to get the drop on bigfoot for a gun to be useful, so that's something to think about. If that critter is strong and fast as people claim, he'd be one dangerous son of a bitch. That`s a definite point to consider. I simply take mountain monsters for what it's supposed to be. A funny tv program. I forgot about seeing the les stroud bigfoot episodes, they did seem pretty decent from what I recall. I still have a few on my DVR and about to watch them. I just finished the shooting bigfoot show, well one episode at least. I thought it was supposed to be a serious finding bigfoot type thing but it is just staged blair witch type miniseries, kinda irritating. Ok, I'm convinced, my niece shall be bigfoot bait.

A fellow church member was nearly disappeared in a campground in Shawnee. It really happens to people, common themes are huckleberries, an iron smell, a sense of dread not sensed by the body but your soul (will explain later). This lady was camping with her husband and 3 kids in the early 2000s. There was a power line easement where she could see part of the main parking lot and around the park office. Her husband had just gone down to the bathroom unit a few hundred feet from their site, when he came back a minute later, crawling on all fours, with urine dripping and a terrified look and just told them to get in the car and lock the door. They could see down the power line easement four or five tall (7-8 foot) hairy things running around and even with the car doors shut smelled some iron (like blood's taste). There was also a feeling of absolute depression and helplessness, even more than the fear. Apparently her husband had seen something at the bathroom. he thought his crawl back from the bathroom had taken an hour, but it only took a minute or so. He mad been running on all fours on the ground. apparently it was impossible for him to stand on his feet after being so close to this thing. They slept in the car, and asked around the next day before leaving. No other campers saw anything (or some of them were in on it maybe). She credits her praying the blood of Jesus for not being another disappearance victim. He left the family a year later to move back to his family in arizona, and never talked about what he saw, at all. Apparently mentioning this caused him to be borderline violent. There have been stories about people disappearing from that campground/forest every few years. My theory is the smell and spacial differences, and dread are not sensed by your physical body, but demonic entities are nearby your soul and disrupt the link between your body and soul. Investigators fall into two camps. One views bigfoot as harmless but curious. Only dangerous if threatened. The other camp views it as a predator and treats it accordingly. The Finding Bigfoot crew falls into the first group. (They do bring armed guards in bear country. They just don't show them on TV.) You must remember that Finding Bigfoot is entertainment and reality TV first and foremost. I've met all the Finding Bigfoot people and like them a lot. I've even been on one of their episodes. (Best Little Bigfoot In Texas, I'm the James that is on that episode.) I will say that despite the sometimes silly nature of the show, they are all actual investigators off camera.
I've never met the Mountain Monsters guys. I'll withhold any comment because of that. Anyone that has seen a few episodes can draw their own conclusions. |

Regarding Bigfoot and the paranormal. We can't even prove it exists so there isn't much use in assigning very many characteristics to it. I think biological creature is the only safe assumption until existence is proven. Non-existence can't be proven.
While I don't push the paranormal theories, I am familiar with all of them. If anyone has an interest in the demonic angle then take a look at the "nephilim". This is an example of a typical report. It was done as a face to face interview by myself and one of my other investigators:
East Texas Unusual – Investigative Report (Public Version) Note: This information taken from private files maintained by East Texas Unusual. Sighting locations and witness identities are confidential for the protection and privacy of those involved. Date: Feb/March 1950-1952 Time of Day: ~4:30pm Location: Creek in Southeast Polk County Sighting Summary Witness was 10 or 11 years old and running set hooks on a creek with 3 dogs and .22 rifle. While sitting on creek bank saw creature crossing creek by wading it coming in from his side. (Creek up to 8' deep at location.) Witness tried to get closer but because of dogs becoming very afraid (raising hackles, etc.) and the smell of creature he ran home. His mother didn't believe him so they returned two hours later and the smell was still there. Terrain: Wooded creek bottom, large trees and open at the time of sighting. Closest Distance: ~450' Height: 8'+ Width: Very wide Hair Length: 2”+ Hair Color: Brown Tail: No Smells: Very strong rotten musky smell Sounds: None Bipedal/Quadrupedal: Bipedal only Other Details: “Cave man” head. Kinky or bear like hair. Small ears. NOTE: The closest distance is listed as stated by witness. Actual distance from site location appears to have been closer to 150'. |

It would not be a stretch that these creatures are playing host to demonic spirits, which most certainly can alter matter and energy in ways not recognized by mainstream chemistry and physics. I'll issue a caveat first, I don't push the paranormal theories because I think they are too big of a leap for a creature that can't even be demonstrated to be real. With that being said: Basically the theories fall in the following groups: 1. Religious based. For example, Bigfoot is demonic. 2. Paranormal. For example, Bigfoot is a manifestation of a ghost or other supernatural creature. 3. Inter-dimensional. Bigfoot is from another dimension or is "out of phase" with us. A lot of these theories center around the idea of "portals". 4. Alien. Bigfoot is an alien creature. 5. Biological creature with supernatural ability. For example, the ability to "cloak", do teleportation, etc. 6. New age stuff. Spirit of the Earth stuff. As I said, these are FYI. Have you heard the stories of equipment failing after an encounter? I would definitely agree that these are biological animals, and most likely closer to humans than any other primate. It is because of this attribute that it would allow them to make great corporeal hosts for demons. There are plenty of documented accounts of human possessions whereby the human host exhibits unnatural abilities during the possession. It would not be a stretch that these creatures are playing host to demonic spirits, which most certainly can alter matter and energy in ways not recognized by mainstream chemistry and physics. That is my pet theory anyway, it could be wrong, but I am convinced that many of the attributes that these cryptids present are demonic and unnatural. These animals are truly perfect predators and that alone is at odds with nature. there is obviously a spiritual aspect. Possibly about the connection to cult activities in the woods, up to the top levels of the national park/forest services (?). There have been instances of weird and contradictory statements and cover-up activities after suspicious disappearances. These creatures have existed a lot longer than the US national park service, but your point is interesting. |

Meh. For all intents and purposes, NV is a better jack of all trades. I mean yeah, it would be cool to have a T50 FLIR clip on in front of my day optic; but I had an awesome time shelling out $3k for my PVS 14. I don't want to think too much about a $10k FLIR unit.
