PSA please find a way to drop the weight out front that is retrofitable to the one I have. Buy a Gen 2 or train more. |

A line needs to be drawn. I think the retro guys mostly bought what they wanted to buy in the initial run of the brn180. The gen 3 seems to be a competitor to the mcx. But with a more stable handguard and a side charging handle. I like it a lot. I might end up with a 13.9 and a 10.5" if they ever sell that length. The design is sleek, they really put a lot of thought into it. I love that my plan b cans with run on the 13.9 without having to change the flash hider. |

I have my Gen three upper in hand and I have some first impressions. This isn't a Gen 3. It's a completely new firearm. - The only parts that appear to be interchangeable with the Gen 2 are the bolt, firing pin, firing pin spring, gas block and handguard retaining bolt. - The receiver is taller. - The guide rods are narrower and springs longer - Piston system is the same length (.300 blk) - Gas block and back are slightly different. Op rod spring is different. - The barrel profile is different with a large profile around the chamber that appears to have some type of heat mitigation. This looks like a clean sheet redesign in the spirit of the Gen 2 and not like a modified version of it. It's fit and finish are several steps above the Gen 2. I'll have the new lower in hand on Tuesday. |

FWIW Gibbz has been making a nice SC upper for years, been using em in 3 gun. requires a proprietary cam for the bolt...Not Ambi If youre a lefty,, TFB. :o Funny how this is now catching on and theyre lighter... no fwd assist or eject port on some.. would like to see comparison but for 1100? nah aint buyin or tryin, show me.. |

This ain't that. The BRN-180 is a short stroke piston with built in gas regulator. The Gibbz (and most others) are DI and require an adjustable gas block. Also, the Gibbz Gen 4 complete upper is $1100+... |

Any idea if it works with the A3 TRIAD bulpup kit? As the triad kits were released when the gen2 were out I would guess they are designed for gen2, but if the bottom of the rail is the same dimension they should work. Between this and the BRN4 uppers my wallets going to take a beating. |

Dang these look great xecept for the rubber charging handle dust cover. The Sig 556 that had something similar and I just don't like soft rubber used for that. Outstanding to see them continue to improve this system though so maybe there will be a Gen 4 at some point! |

Take it off if it bothers you that much. I’d trust that Brownells and PWS, after getting inspiration from Sig, have figured the rubber cover out. |
