Well thread title says "spoilers" so I think a separate "no spoiler" thread would be appropriate.

Quick question.  Is Manny Horvitz really dead?  The shot was to the left eye.  The same eye that Richard Harrow lost during the war.    But is he in fact dead?   He's obviously one tough SOB.

He's definitely dead.  Half his brain would have been blown out.  He took a direct hit straight on.  Richard's injury was most likely from shrapnel raking across his face but not penetrating very deeply.

Got it on DVR.  I'll go back and watch again...

Could have been using bird shot.

Just watched it on my dvr, Manny takes a pellet in his forhead, another in his left cheek and most of the load in his left eye. The special effects guys show his cheek bone opening up in the shot.

Manny and driver, rot in hell...

I agree. While I was watching the other night I was thinking, "it's gonna be a rough season for Mrs Schroeder". The final scene sealed that deal.

Watched again and again on DVR.  I will say that I am going to need to see the body in the morgue.  I'm not saying it's likely.  Just a possibility.

Not a very good screen capture but I think you are on to something. Manny is going to come back for vengeance wearing a mask on the left side of his face. Opens up a whole new world of character development. Kind of looks like old Arnie in "Terminator."

While I agree that she is a backstabbing bitch, Nucky's doing just fine.

I mean, if he can afford $40,000/month in protection payment, he's alright.

Who does he pay $40k/mo too? I missed that one.
Wasn't Nucky uber broke last season?
THat Land is worth 10's of millions of dollars.

Why did Nucky let Richard live after killing Jimmy?

Will Nucky figure out that Richard killed Manny? Manny had enough enemies and

Nucky killing Jimmy was simply business.  Everyone knew that Jimmy betrayed Nucky.  If Nucky wanted to keep on being a ganster, Jimmy had to die in order for Nucky to get any respect(to be feared by other gangsters).  Richard is another story.  He is a valuable piece of man power and he is taking care of Jimmys kid.

Are we sure that Richard was freelancing when he killed Manny?  Remember the scene with Manny and Nucky at the warehouse.  Manny asking for his own operation could of been perceived by Nucky as part of a conspiracy.  Killing Jimmys wife could also be a reason for Nucky to have Manny killed.

Interesting thought about Richard. Hadn't considered that angle.  Of course it could explain why he waited a year or so to off Manny.

How would Richard of known where to find Manny that night?  And that Manny would be coming out of his house?

Manny told Nucky that he wanted to visit his wife in Philly.  Owen told Manny that the liquor thief had to die that night.

Nucky could give a rat's red ass about Jimmy's wife. Richard on the other hand is a valuable asset. I would not be surprised to find out Richard is now on Nucky's payroll. Offing Manny was advantageous to Nucky and satisfied Richard's desire for vengeance for Angela. Though Richard was loyal to Jimmy he understands his death as business. Angela's murder on the other hand pissed him the fuck off.

Manny broke the rules of the game.  Would you want to keep doing business with someone who killed another mans wife over a business dispute if you were Nucky?  Would you worry about your wife's well being if things go sideways with Manny?  Its a reason to have him killed if his usefulness or loyalty come into question.

Doubt Richard is on Nucky's payroll because Richard wanted to kill Nucky for Jimmy at the end of last season.  Probably Richard is solo and avenging Jimmy and his wife because of the sensitivity and kindness they gave him.

It stands to reason that Richard could track down Manny if he had a year to do it.

It also stands to reason that Manny would be at his house on New Years. Did Richard know he was coming out of the house or was he just going to kick in the door and blast him with a 12 Ga like he did with the Delessio brothers in season 1?

She's young, and she's used to being around gangsters at least a bit.  She sees normal guys as being kinda boring.

Dr. Boyfriend defied Chalky a bit too.  Not sure if that's gonna cause a problem or earn him respect (possibly from her).

I thought the first episode was very good.  The second was kind of low-key just pushing the story along, but that's typical for a second episode.  Judging from next week's preview, it's gonna have a lot more action.

I liked Eli's part of tonight's story.  He just got some good, meaningful screen time and character development.

Nucky possibly told him the number in case anything happens. I don't think he wanted to answer because it could've been another guy calling for Billie.

What did the exchange in the poolroom mean, where Thompson didn't know what day the liquor convoy was moving? Is he losing his ability to govern his operations or is Rothstien calling the shots now and he changed the date?
