I've been gainfully unemployed for 3 years, retired comfortable but no more new cars,

I live poor because I'm a semi-poor so that I may be not poor in retirement.

No clue, but I did retire and haven't held a job since 46 years old.
Have 55 acres and two homes, one of which was given to my son, his wife and our granddaughter. We get to sleep in everyday and see our granddaughter, never again will my phone ring with some asshole boss telling me what to do. So yes I am rich, freedom is the most valuable thing on the planet. |

When my ex wife got the house during my divorce, despite her violating multiple court orders, I ended up in a studio apartment in Oakland, CA. where my car was stolen a few months later, then Vallejo where there was a shootout with police at the apartment above me on Christmas Eve. My son asked if he could move in with his Grandfather {had full custody of my son but joint forces my daughter} after Christmas |

My house makes me look like I have nothing to my name and that I should be sitting on the porch in my underwear drinking Keystone. Which is kinda how I live
I live like I'm poor so I can live with less worry. |

Not hungry. Neither are the kids, despite the months long baby product shortages. So not poor.

Define poor. I make 2.5 times the median household income for my area. However the average home price is like $800k or some ridiculous shit like that.

I’m not sure anymore, how much do you have to make to be rich now what with the crippling inflation and all?
I make now what I used to think rich people made, but I still feel poor. I don’t have to wonder how I’ll pay my bills, so there’s that. |
|
I made a bit over 80k last year, own a house and have full custody of 1 kid….. money is often in short supply but I got it better then some others
All in all 99.9% of humans from history could only dream of the luxury that I take for granted some times that helps keep thing in perspective |

I am probably "rich" on paper. Family land and property I hold a percentage of.
In reality I'm a blue collar shit-pig and part time mud farmer. |

I'm better than some, not as rich as others....
But meh, I'll take the title of poors... |

Probably compared to people who can buy expensive items on a whim with no financial hardship involved .

Tough to answer for me. I’m pretty poor, I have 5 kids and we homeschool so my wife doesn’t work. She used to make good money before we had kids, but I don’t want her to work and she doesn’t want to either, staying home with the kids is her dream. This last year has been tough on us, I had to take a second job so I’ve been gone from 5am to 9:30pm every day but Sunday. I hope it’s not forever because I miss my family, but we’re paying all the bills, getting some debts paid off and getting some money saved in a rainy day fund. So I guess I’m not technically broke, I mean I don’t get government assistance or anything, but damn, inflation is literally killing me. Work load has been picking up and annual raises at my regular job are coming up in June so I’m hoping for something good, would love to be able to go back to only working one job.
