Only 2 over the air TV channels then there was a 3rd.

Had to get up and change the channel on the TV.

This was all in black & white, then there was color TV.

Rotary dial telephones.

Calling out of your local area one had to go through an operator.

And banging on the side of the TV to "tune" it.

Yep, it was right about then coming off the Gold Standard in 74 started us to where we are now.

No actual GDP growth in over 30 years, with one blip of an exception.  It has all been money borrowed from our children and grandchildren.

Going out side with a pipe wrench to turn it so the stations would come in better.

The past sucked. By past, I mean before 1996.

Yeah, silly of me to be glad that I can expect to not be blind at 60.

Gas was around .55 cents a gallon give or take around 1975.  Brand new car for 4000 dollars.

Most people went to bed after Johnny Carson? Then the tv went to color bars, and then snow. Occasionally a late night movie. No Internet, no cell phones, no

Xboxes. No 24 hour society. Everything was closed on holidays.  Schools actually taught math, English, biology, history without a political agenda. You could draw guns, and war scenes on paper without being suspended, and sent to a shrink. Kids actually went outside to play.

Have gun in your car in the school parking lot
Heck, I would take a shotgun to school with me and keep it in my locker for gun club shoots after school.  My school owned rifles for the gun club.  No one freaked out about it and I grew up fine.

Yes I remember the end of the broadcast day, the playing of the National Anthem and the Indian head test signal.

I think it was more like '68 (between the war and the hippies), being American became a bad thing except NASA, and Reagan was a reminder of what could be,

but then feelings and free shit was more important to too many, than National pride and the crap we leave for the next generation. It went from us to me in about

2 generations, and I don't see it reversing anytime soon.

But on topic, no helmet, playing marbles, and rabbit ears w/vice-grip tuner are great memories of how simple life used to be.

When Cable Vision built the first tower out where we lived in West Texas where we would get New channels like Midland had, it was a big deal.
People drove out and looked at it, marveled at the progress.

You left out a BIG one.......companies didn't have 24/7 access to employees via cell/text/email. I remember the days when I thought a beeper was a ball and chain! In my opinion, this has been the greatest detriment to my quality of life!
