Not mine, but same setup. Added an EOtech XPS-2 300, Geisselle SD-C flat trigger, Geisselle dogleg safety, Troy BUIS (I asked them if horiuchi was still working there and they said "Huh?") and a MagPul MOE grip. While not FA, it is an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.

I”m a big fan of chassis systems on handguns. No, they aren’t as effective as something dedicated as the B&T USW-A1, but they are the best money you can spend on an extra handgun you have laying around. Seriously, for roughly $100 you can take your RDS equipped handgun and turn it into a 33 round carbine equivalent that fits in a fucking glove box. It is a functional equivalent to an AR in 9mm but the small size factor means you are much more likely to have it with you when you need it. I’d be no more likely to have an a 9mm AR with me than a full blown rifle so this type of handgun based weapon makes sense for me: Attached File |

Mine will have a 7.5” barrel in 9mm because I have a PA 1x prism scope that is calibrated for 9mm from a 7.5” barrel. I’ve been playing with the 68 grain Lehigh bullets and getting 1740fps out of a threaded G19 so I expect closer to 2,000 out of the 7.5” barrel. I may also get a .357 sig barrel as those do more like 2300fps in an 8” barrel. This will be a “walk out to the outhouse at night” gun as we have bears and coyote in the area near my cabin and they get hungry in the winter. |

What's out there for mag in grip PDWs? If I'm carrying something the size of an AR it might as well be an AR. What I really need to do is find my G17 and get that milled for the RMR that's been sitting around for like 2 years. I prefer to carry a 17 since I shoot it much better but man that 48 carries nice. I never really leave town except to fly to California to see family or drive to Chiraq to see my gf so if something hits off while I'm either place I guess I'll be cowboying it up with a G48 and a .44 Henry. Leverguns, the original PCC (RCC!). ??

I don't go into cities. No need, no desire. If I walk out the door (sort of out in the country) I've got a big pistol in the holster and a couple extra big mags. When I leave my property to go out in public I have a compact pistols and three spare mags. When I go on a road trip (I drive around the cities) I have a carbine or two in the trunk and enough ammo as back up for the CCW on my hip. The only larger than a pistol/smaller than a carbine gun I have isn't something I carry out of the house. |

If it was, a rifle would be the answer 100% of the time. Someone else had a good description earlier in the thread: medium spicy. Think uptick in random protests that could turn violent, general slowed emergency service responses, but everyone trying to keep life going as normal. A situation where you still have to get your work and errands done, but the potential for violence is significantly higher. Thats why concealment for pdws is a huge factor. Yeah, you want more performance than just your handgun, but anything big that looks like it could conceal a long gun, much less openly carrying a rifle might get you too much scrutiny by either authorities or bad actors. You dont have to agree and there is stuff that doesnt fit a category easily but its a pretty good breakdown. For me personally, I’d say “can be made smaller than a mk18”. So a 10.3” AR with a law folder makes the cut, but a regular mk18 would not, because its hard to conceal a mk18 without taking it down in anyway that doesnt scream “theres a gun in this long ass bag”. |
