what kind of horseshit is that? that can't even send a unit to him to put some fear into him about death threats and him being the number 1 suspect if something were to happen? should have told them if they won't at least talk to him i'm shooting first next time he comes near me. Threat like that is just harassment here, not even a misdemeanor. |

Get a restraining order (exact thing happened to me) and this is what I said to the judge when the order was issued.
"Your honor, should he disobey this order may I take that as a threat on my life?" She said.."yes you may". If you have a restraining order and he enters your business or approaches you, you can take whatever action need be. |

HAHA, that reminds me of an old coworker. He used to regularly threaten to kill people in the office. I'd like to say he said it as a joke but he seemed rather serious. And he would point out that he had a .45 and was an ex-Marine. Anyway, one day I was in a foul mood and he threatened me (I forget why - he didn't need much of a reason). I whipped around in my chair and said "Karl, you keep saying you are going to kill people but you never follow through. You've got no credibility. I don't want to hear any more about it - if you're going to do it then just do it." The whole time I could another coworker back behind him mouthing "no" and trying to wave me off. But it worked - he quit making silly threats after I called his bluff. Well, I guess it was a bluff - he was about 40, generally not respected, never married and the closest 'family' he had was his frat brothers that he meet up with every couple of years. That's what scared my coworkers was that they thought he 'fit the profile'. Not to mention he's a redhead and had the stereotypical redhead temper. He worked there for years and finally moved on to a job in Atlanta. Now I just remember him as a funny character since he didn't kill any of us.
I know, I know, CSB. |

Get an order of protection, if he shows up there again at the very least its easier to get him on a criminal tresspassing charge.

I had an employee that always said he would kill whoever fired him. Well, the time come to fire him and the plant manager sent me an email to do it. Chicken shit stayed around for everyone else or at least did it on daytime. We were working nights.
I ask my boss what I was suppose to do if he jumped on me, since I didnt want to lose my job, and I sure as hell wasnt taking an ass whooping. He told me to 'do whatever you have to'. I took another guy in with me and had a 3 D mag flash light in the chair beside me. I fired him, he looked at me and said 'ok, no problem. I appreciate the opportunity to work here and you were a good boss.' I was walked him to the door, he stuck out his hand and told me bye. Seen him about 2 yrs later and he was acting like we were long last friends. Ive seen him several times since and no problems. |
|
Um... Did the fired dude make enough money to actually buy / own a gun? Or we're you oppressing him enough to keep yourself and company safe?

How long did he work there? How well did you know the guy? Did he seem like the kind of guy that might follow through with his threat? View Quote I'm not really worried about it. This isn't the kind of person that follows Through on anything, he worked an entry level, low paying jobfor a LONG time, and hasn't accomplished anything notable in life. If he was going to grow some initiative, I'd be dead already. Ill be on my toes for a while just in case though. |

I have never had to fire someone or been in a position where I would have to, but about 3 years ago we had an employee acting crazy and IMO he was acting. He was let go, our boss at the time was 6 hrs away so he asked for volunteers to go to the guys house and collect his company car, laptop, blackberry, etc. I said fuck it I will go but I am taking Mr. Glock with me. Boss said fine. It was more sad than anything else, his wife sitting in the dining room crying and all But for all his threats and tough talk, he shook my hand, I wished him luck and I got the fuck out of there. View Quote That's pretty rough. |

We recently had a guy where I work who was scared he was going to get fired(wasn't actually fired yet) threaten to kill a few people by the time clock about a month back, well he gets fired for sure first thing the next morning for making threats, on top of that they contact the police because he actually threatened to kill people.

Some asshole threatens to kill me, I immediately force the issue.
I take people at their word and won't hesitate to act accordingly. "You threatened my life...and now you can't believe I just beat your ass?" |

Last time someone did that to me, it was a pissed off relative.
It just happened to be in my home, whilst I was sitting at my desk. I calmly opened the drawer and pulled out a 1911 that I then set in front of me. Any fight left said relative, and I haven't seen him in a decade. Did you at least show him your kung fu was stronger, and monkey grabs the peach his ass? |

Can you carry a gun at work for protection? I keep one in the car, best I can do. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile You would think staffed metal detectors at all the entrances would deter customers. Too bad they have them otherwise you could carry a small gun discreetly (Ruger .380/Shield 9mm/etc.) and they'd never know. God, if you had to use it to stop him or someone else they'd find out you violated company policy and you might get fired. I'd take a bullet before I risk violating company policy. |
