I had a Nerf Vulcan that I bought for fun one day and decided that neon orange and yellow wasn't for me. So Sunday afternoon I took a rattlecan to it and while it had an OD green theme to it, the colors were too similar to the gunmetal. So I added some brown in there this evening for a more earthy feel. I'll probably give it to my little cousin.

lol, I'm not sure acrylics will hold up well on an AR.

Any space battle damage you want on there will have to be done on your own driveway.

Is that a phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range?

So you got the detail by throwing it down the driveway?

Now it looks like a real gun and you'll likely be charged with manufacturing a machine gun.

So how exactly did you get that look?  It appears to be more than just a spray job.

You should do one for a Air Zone Punisher as well, they're even better than the Nerf Vulcan.

That looks like a Calico .22 strapped under it with the upside down barrel. Look at the upside down front sight under there -!

Nice work OP, I'd like to hear details about how you did the scheme, and how long it took.

Yes, you vill telll us how you did it. Now!

Bet you build models, huh?? I definitely see some dry brushing (or similar effect). Needs a wash and it would be totally bad ass.

That looks friggin amazing! I had one of those I got for Christmas as gift from my wife last year but ended up pitching it because my daughter bit all the rubber tips off the bullets.

Last year I told my father in law I wanted to get a beltfed one day. He gave me one of those beltfed Nerf guns for X-mas that year as a gag. Since then I bought my daughter a couple Nerf guns and we have "hunt the cat" safaris in the house. It would be cool to paint up the Nerfs like that.

Please share how you did it.

I've never wanted a nerf gun until now.  Well, at least not since I've been 13 years old.

Hell I was wandering around Wally World the otehr day and they had a huge endcap display with all the new Nerf guns and their competitors type stuff around the corner. The coolest nerf when I was a kid was the Manta Ray and the Long Bow. I have a feeling my girl is getting me one of the belt fed as a gag for my b day next weekend... Little does she know that if she does, she must prepare for WAR!!!

I'll be run out of here for saying this but I am always very reluctant to allow any association in my house between a gun and a toy, as a gun is never a toy (a concept I have to remind my kids of constantlly).  The difference is that I have small children so I have that to consider.  cool project...if I didn't have kids id do the same thing!

I know a family that allows their kid to have nerf guns but can only shoot them at targets.  Like pistol targets covered in plastic.  So they learn they can't point guns at people.

It was a  moment for me.

Your kids your choice.

I follow my experience as a kid.  We had toy guns galore (store bought and homemade).  Dad taught us to respect real firearms.

I use the same pattern for my kids.

Children have had toy weapons since the beginning of time.
