Need bigger tires. I can manage 30+ on my bicycle and that's not even built for speed. But the tires make it considerably more manageable. Can't go that fast on two wheels that size.

I have a friend who is a neurosurgeon. He makes a killing off of those things. Wear your helmets boys and girls. As always, don’t drink and drive. Maybe you should also consider taking a physics class.
|

I saw a guy on a main road the other day doing 40+ keeping up with the car in front of him in traffic.
pass.... Wheels are so small. I have an electric bicycle that can do 30mph. I don't ride in the road. |

View Quote I was talking the the triage nurse at Riverside Community Hospital after an amature motocross race waiting for my best friend to get patched up. She said about 25% of the moto admitted patients, their families are willing to just give the bike to them for free. These are current year bikes too. |

Just saw one of these in traffic for the first time over the weekend. I about shit when I saw how fast the kid accelerated on it. I thought he had a rope to the car in front of him, with someone he knew pulling him.
Yeah, kids are gonna die when they meet a pothole or rock in the road. |

Just spent the last week zooming around old San Juan on a similar style scooter. Thing was a blast.
|
|
If that thing has 6000 watts worth of motor that's about 8 horsepower.
Looks like a house to subway station and subway station to work scooter. |
|
|
What is the range and weight limit?
Let's say I worked 30 miles away and lived somewhere flat...like SLC. Could I make it home in an hour? |
|
I see them all around my AO. I've seen some fast ones too and prompted me to look into them. There are quite a few that hit 50-70+mph. Those are more like $4K.
I've been tempted to get one to make the occasional run up to one of my locations. How does this Segway compare to the other quality ones? |
|
Why do people gravitate towards devices that have a high risk or injury or death?
|
|
Sitting at a Freightliner stealership, kid truck driver rode in on one, said the thing would do 58mph. My reply was until you hit a pothole or can't stop the thing and go flying into a car.
Also told him I was surprised his company would allow him to take it in the truck. |
|
Whew. Thats for somebody young and dumb. I've got an electric bicycle that does 39mph. Even with 29" wheels and disc brakes it feels unsafe.

Yeah, someone is lying on power.
Either that or it's terribly, terribly inefficient. 1000W mid drives have been out forever and 1k watts can get you to 40mph. So, it takes 6x the power to go 4mph faster? The battery would have to be giagantic and even then would hardly last at those quoted outputs. ETA Yeah lot of fuckery in the numbers. 3000 watts continuous, 6000 watts peak, yet has a 1000wh battery. So at top power you're getting 20 minutes of run time to 100% dead. And lithiums you never discharge past 20, really shouldn't be under 30% so you're actually getting about 13 minutes of run time. At 44mph that's 10 miles. Yet they claim a mileage much longer than that. No thanks. |
|
Our roads are not good enough for that.
Any problems that might cause will sort itself out over time. |
|
Going 40mph, little tires and a bump in the road.
I'll take a bike doing that speed |
|
Segway. I’ll never forget their initial launch. All that hype. Tech visionary types who got an early look at it saying it would change the world. Most important invention ever. I was pretty excited as it sounded like a really big deal.
And it turned out to be a fucking self balancing scooter lol After that disappointment I don’t think I will ever be able to bring myself to buy any Segway product. |

Board only has a 280wh battery. It lasts a long ass time. I imagine the scooter will have a good bit of run time because you’re not maxing it out every second you’re on it. You’re coasting down hills, cruising, etc using very little power for a portion of the trip. |

They need to upfit the fatmobiles at Walmart with these electronics so we can hope for whiskey throttle. If nothing else it will get the riders heart rate up for the first time in 15 years.
|
|
I have a two-mile commute where the fastest road is 45mph. I kinda want one.
|

I don't understand the push to smallify the tires to the point they are so dangerous. I've ridden some of the Byrd ones in the cities, yeah they're fun but they are a really unsafe on shitty city roads. I honestly don't know how those companies are avoiding massive lawsuits on a regular basis.

Watched the video…You’re killing me Smalls!
Isn’t that the catcher from Sandlot in the video? |

My best friend growing up, his dad was a mechanic. He put a turbo or nitrous on one of those gas scooters and that motherfucker flat out was like a missile. He wouldn't let us ride it. Until the turbo go-cart he built which was the fastest accelerating 4 wheeled vehicle I ever drove.

View Quote Shit, I broke my arm/wrist in four places on a regular bird scooter in Atlanta right before the covid bullshit at the end of Feb 2020. 25mph downhill was fast enough… |

There are two different guys I see around my end of town with a one wheel scooter-unicycle thing that does an honest 35mph maybe more. I'm impressed with the balance and coordination they possess, I'd probably kill myself on one of them.

20 years ago, I saw a electric scooter on craigslist. It looked like a giant razor scooter. I don’t recall the brand, but it had oversized, fat tires and a giant battery. It looked fun and durable enough that I could ride it. I bought it for around $400. I brought it home and my 8 and 10 YO boys got on it and it was completely insane. The thing would hit 30 MPH in a few seconds. When I saw the speed and acceleration on that thing, I disabled it so they couldn’t ride it. It was terrifying to watch.

Riding something like that would seem like you've purchased a First Class ticket to DESTINATION FUCKED!

I have a series of bike paths I can get pretty much anywhere on. I've thought about something like this to get home from the auto shop or things like that.
I kind of just want an e bike though. |

I'll just jump out of the back of my pickup at speed and save myself $2.5K.

That the fat kid from movie The Sandlot at the beginning? The catcher.

I had a neighbor years ago that was quite the beer drinker. He was in his late 40's and he would try to do all the shit his two boys were doing with scooters, skateboards, any other killer machine. But he did it with the added attraction of being drunk. Constantly in casts, slings, bandages and/or crutches. |

44? Thats it? Lame. Check the scooters in this post
I'm thinking the 60 MPH scooter may do me, but I kinda wanna get my hair blown back on the scooter that does 90 MPH |
