A sketchy trip into ghetto areas and past homeless camps was the result of the OKC Memorial Marathon committee reworking the route a couple years ago in an attempt to be more "inclusive" of the neighborhoods the race ran through. |

Not really feeling it today. Lower energy than usual, and my stomach isn't/wasn't feeling the greatest. |

There is no way I can do this.
Life and weather makes it impossible for me. |

Weather isn't great yesterday and the next two days. But I gotta get my miles.

I'll give this a try this year, but set my goal at 500 miles. I started trying to run again about a year and a half ago after not running since I left the Army. I hurt my back so bad two years ago that I needed a cane to walk for two months. After that I decided to walk and then decided to run again. It has been a very slow process with lots of pain and setbacks. This is the first month I have had anything resembling decent mileage, but my back started hurting again last week and on Saturday, Sunday, and today I needed a cane to help get out of bed again. Despite that I went on a 2 mile run today. The run went fine but getting up after sitting in the car for the ride home hurts.

20210127: 3.63
20210128: 6.27 TYD: 105.51 I'm going to do a virtual half for The Woodlands Marathon in March. They have a waiting list for the in-person full and some slots open for in-person half. With all the restrictions, I'm just not jazzed about doing the half in-person. Doing a full "virtual" by myself would have logistics issues. But, a half is "any given Saturday". I'll admit, I just want the shirt and medal. I still have my bib and medal from last year sitting on my desk. I'm trying to talk my wife into going to Hawaii for a full in June. She wouldn't run (well, maybe a 5K), but just enjoy the sun. She's not happy w/ their COVID restrictions. I'm expecting the restrictions to change, who know whether for better or worse. So, why worry? She and I have already had COVID, so... let's roll? |
