Army bases are essentially 'gun free zones' for anyone but MPs and troops training as a unit with their government issued weapons...

You can have a gun on post if you are hunting, going to the range, or live in family housing, but it has to be registered, and if you brought it on post to hunt or target shoot, you have to go straight there and straight back to where the gun is stored when you're done... Mandatory registration, too... It's almost 'Canadian Style'...
