V Seven is one of the leaders in lightweight parts, utilizing intelligent design and/or higher-end alloys. The Enlightened Upper Receivers come in two flavors, but we like the 7075-T6 version since it less expensive compared to the 2055 version -- yet is only fractions of an ounce heavier. 2055 Aluminum Lithium is generally about 10% lighter than 7075 -- but V Seven's design on the Enlightened Uppers have most of the non-critical mass removed -- including the provision for a Forward Assist. The minimized shell deflector also reduces weight, with final touches from the relieved fencing cuts and the grooved top rail. The lugs are slightly oversized for a tight fit to lower receivers.
If you followed InRange's WWSD (What Would Stoner Do) rifle project, they reimagined a modern AR-15 using new manufacturing techniques, as well taking inspirational design cues from Eugene's original designs. We think the V Seven Enlightened upper would be an excellent upper to pair to a KP15 Polymer lower from KE Arms, or to be paired with a complementary lower receiver outfitted with lightweight parts. With quality parts you can get reliable performance and weight savings all in one with V Seven components. V Seven Enlightened AR-15 Upper Receiver -- $287.12 (Log In to see better pricing)
