Even if this is not something you are interested in please search for my facebook page Surplus Boom and follow my posts and share with anybody you might think would like one of these.
This is an actual speaker I made for a customer.
This example is made from a .50 Cal Saw box. It employs a Dayton 2x50w amp. The speakers are Dayton 4" full range speakers with custom grills. It comes with a top compartment to store your phone or MP3 player, charging cable, and Aux in cable. This box has the option of playing via bluetooth or aux in. Price in this configuration is about $260.
I can also use any car speaker system you desire as long as they run at 4ohm. The cost will depend on components used. For example my personal kit (the Noveske Stickered one) runs JL Audio C1 speakers. That configuration would run about $370.
Each box will be lined with 1/4" MDF and sound deadening material that you would find in automotive audio applications. This will remove any chance of resonance from the metal can. The handle of the can will also be paracord wrapped to eliminate rattle from the hardware. Inner storage unit (only available with 50 cal SAW box will also be felt lined).
Battery charge is rated for 6 hours with the battery packs I use with the amp I am running. I can also double battery capacity for another $35.
These will be built to order therefore, all material costs will be due prior to building with final payment due upon completion and delivery. Also, note that the lead time will be at least 2-3 weeks as I need time to source materials and build the speaker box. Lead time is subject to change depending on my schedule. Shipping usually runs around $30.
I have also been toying with the idea of creating a Mono version of this speaker using a single 6.5" coaxial or component speaker set with the control panel being on the front next to the speaker. This should give better bass response at the expense of stereo output. If that would be something you would be interested in, we can talk about that too.
