I’ve got a Versa Max Tactical not the Comp Tactical. It has been a great gun for me in 3-gun.

Been using a VMCT for two years in 3G.  Did a complete tear down and clean once when nearly new just to see what the guts looked like.  Haven't done anything to it since then and it's been 100%.

If you are familiar with the M4 then you are familiar with the versamax. They are a pretty much blueprint copy of the M4

my VMCT has a benelli trigger group in it.

more people use the M2 than the VM, but I prefer the heavier VM. it shoots softer and is not pick about shells.

More M2s consistently finish in the top 10 than any other shotgun out there. Just saying

The M2 has an inertia recoil system which gives the perception of snappy recoil. I've seen 14 year old girls that rock the M2 so recoil isn't the problem. I bought TTI M2 about 4 years ago and I've seen my scores significantly improved. Too bad I don't practice.

The Benelli has more harsh recoil, but it is more reliable.  Everyone I know who bought a Versamax for 3 gun competition has had to replace multiple parts.  Fortunately, many of the parts that wear and break are interchangeable with Benelli so they end up replacing the cheaply made Remington parts with Benelli parts.  I'd  get the Benelli parts on order if you're going to shoot the Remington a lot.

Love my VMCT. I've got 2 seasons of 3 gun on it. Had to swap the cam pin for a benelli part (factory one was beat to hell after about 1500rds), and I am now using RCI xtra power carrier dog leg springs...Every now and again firing a full power slug would cause a timing issue with the lifter, ending with the shell crashing against the side of the chamber and jamming.

Rose Action Sports  in KY did an excellent job opening the feed port and doing all the usual 3 gun stuff after my first season with it.

I know OP already made his choice, but for others on the M2/VM fence, at our local 3 gun there are a LOT of really hard leans and awkward shooting positions that can prevent you from having 100% perfect form. VM doesn't care...M2s, especially with small/light shooters tend to fail to extract/feed in those particular circumstances,
