Sometimes in 3 gun you have to shoot fairly far. By far I mean 600 yards max around here.
My normal 3 gun load is a 55 grain load and thats OK out to say 300 yards.
But I was wondering if I could make up a heavyweight (higher BC) bullet that would be better at distance with having to dial in or hold over less elevation.
The thing is most of the bullets I am thinking of are not mag-length compatible with a AR.
One of my thoughts was to keep some of them in a wrist carrier and single load them, but Ive never seen anyone else do this and probably because of the time it would take.
So what do you guys use for reaching out to 3 gun's netherworld?

Not into competition shooting but what about a 77gr Sierra Matchking?
I load with 23.5gr of IMR 8208xbr powder and it's quite accurate.

Elevation is similar. Wind drift is the difference.

73gr BT, 73gr ELD, 75gr BTHP, 77gr MatchBurner, 77gr SMK, 77gr NCC, 77gr TMK, 80.5gr Fullbore, 85gr MatchBurner.

I'm not sure if the 75gr VLD's nose is too long. The 75gr ELD's is.

There’s a number of heavier offerings that will fit in a normal magazine. I’ve seen a lot of guys swap magazines for long range targets to limit the cost associated with heavier match type rounds. You could get some different color lancers for stages you will need the long range stuff for.

I’ve also seen guys mix ammo and load 55 grain for close up paper targets and have the good stuff under for long range steel.

For most closer paper targets I wouldn’t imagine the change in point of aim would be enough to throw you off but I’d definitely test before you try it at a match.

I shoot xtc. I shoot Hornady 68 gr HPBT at 2 and 300. I shoot Hornady 75 gr HPBT at 600 loaded to mag length with IMR4895. I have to add 1.5 mils in elevation and 1 mil in windage from 3-600 yds. I don't know if this will help your case any. Just thought I'd throw it out there for you.

Nope. 1.0, however, that is with an unfloated barrel and slung up. I got a nm service rifle float tube installed today so hopefully that will change.

That's a helluva shift from slung prone at 300yds to slung prone at 600yds.
