But, just to be safe, I do a Form 5320.20 for each state I am going to shoot in, or spend any time in. For example, every year I do Forms from FL to (the Knob Creek gun range in) KY and a location in OH where I will be staying for a week while visiting relatives. Those cover me for all of the states that I think I might possibly drive through, on the way to OH via I75 or I77. |

Generally accepted you do any state that was a destination. Including staying overnight at a hotel on the road.
The Safe Passage Provision of FOPA '86 covers the trip itself. |
