Went to a big hk dealer that was supposed to get a shipment today. It's about a 2.5 hour drive. Figured even if they didnt come in the store is amazing and worth the drive on a day off. No SP5s came in, I figure I'll wait it out and see if a K model gets released. I did end up buying a Nighthawk 1911, to bad I have to have it shi6as I was out of state.

Get on the HK website, find the dealer locator, and start calling around. I called last weekend and was the first person to do so at a dealer about 100 mi away from me. Put my name on the list and was told they knew they have one coming. Got the call last night and drove out today to pick it up. A little luck, yes, but I also called a dozen shops before I found one. Most of this first batch is probably claimed I’d say at this point you’re either at the mercy of gun broker, or wait until they’re coming in more steadily and prices normalize. I paid full MSRP but whatever. I’m thankful to have got one at this point. Pick up the phone and do the leg work...it will pay off.

They come in limited quantities off the boat so it's all about being in the right place at the right time. If you don't get one this run find out when the next shipment is. Go to gun shops and ask what their deal is

Meh. $3000 is msrp plus tax for an out-of-stater. Damn thing is a unicorn. Some people will pay it to eliminate the risk of waiting and potentially not getting one. If you wait, maybe you’ll get one for $2500 or maybe you won’t get one at all. You decide if it’s worth it to you.

I passed at $3200 to $3500. At $2800 to $3000 I’m a buyer of one. At $2200 to $2500 I’ll buy a second. Again, it’s a unicorn. Wife can bitch all she wants :)
