Stock Springfield 1903. BBL date 6-19
Modern, Sako Finnbear 1970s vintage. |
I suppose my 7x57mm Spanish Mauser sporter, though the 1917 Remington Mosin has a better trigger.
The Ruger Hawkeye Long-Range Tactical is extremely interesting. CHF 5R barrel, controlled-round feed, and detachable box magazine.
Winchester Model 70 in 300 Winchester Magnum.
Followed by Remington 700 in 7mm STW, or 7mm Magnum. Toss up between Ruger 77 in 220 Swift or a Weatherby In 257 Weatherby. All of these shoot really small groups. |
I love my Ruger 77 MK II International in .308 with a Leupold VX-2 2-7.

Savage 22 by far. I’ve taken down more squirrels than I can remember.

Not if it's an SMLE Mk. I, which is what it is if it's actually a No. 1. The MLM and MLE weren't renamed when the numbering system was introduced in 1926.

No. 5 gets my vote for a military bolt action, though it's a close tie with the 1909 Argentine carbines.
Remington 673 is my go-to centerfire hunting rifle. Rimfire, it's a toss-up between my DSM34 trainer and the Browning T-Bolt. |
Tang safety Ruger 77V in 25-06 followed closely by Winchester Model 70 in 300 Win Mag. Big fan of controlled round feed.

If I had to choose one, definitely the stainless Winchester Model 70 in .300 Winchester magnum, an oldie but a goodie.

Remington 788 in 243 just all around good rifle for our location

Not pretty or my most expensive but my Savage in 30-06 w/ VX3 3.5-10X. It just works for me.

If accuracy is the number 1 goal it's my old M700 Varmint Special in .223 Rem.
If old school cool is the number 1 goal then it's my old M1917 in .30-06. The type of rifle my grandpa carried across France and Germany while in the 3rd US. Inf. Div in WW1. |

Second favorite is a Spanish 93 Mauser that I rebarreled to 7.62x39 at work under the supervision of real gunsmiths. Gave it to Dad and it’s the reason he gave me the old ‘06. Attached File

Winchester model 70 classic and current model 70 actions. After that, ‘98 Mauser clones

Model 700 SPS in 22.250 is hell on coyotes. Accurate little rifle. Steyr SSG69 shoots great and is straight sexy. Just picked up a Howa 6mm Creedmore sporter that's showing some real potential.
