Got these as part of an auction deal. Suitable for 9mm?  Or should they be used in .357

I'd load a dummy or two to see how they feed/function.  If OAL works out for seating depth that plunks I don't seel why not.

In my experience

9mm bullets are normally 0.355 to 0.356

.38 / .357 magnum run 0.357 to 0.358

Guessing it was supposed to be 147gr for 9x19mm and just came out a little heavy.

Except cannelures aren't usually the norm for 9mm projo's, much less 2 of them.

Very true. Pulled from a .mil overrun? Can't recall ever seeing a 9mm bullet with a cannelure, much less two, but I can only guess someone like the military would require something like that for an SMG round maybe???

That's a 147gr HST.  At least that's what it looks like to me.

Yep, it looks exactly like a bunch of pulls I got from American Reloading about a year ago.   Weights were all over the place but mine were 124 grainers.  I got a few 147’s and 115’s in the box too.

I’ve loaded them in 9mm and in 357 also.

Thanks guys.  I did some looking and they are identical to pulled 147gr HST's.

That's good as I have a bunch of them!

9mm 147gr HST

maybe slightly overweight blems

( or your scale needs calibration)

Cannelures are not only for "crimp here" in revolvers.  And a double cannelure is often for core retention, like in the pictures of the Federal HST bullet.  My thought is that, heavy by one grain or not, that's an HST bullet.  Note the folds in the ogive of the jacket...  Maybe it's a "second", but it's an HST.

Yup.  Also, there's a reason that those bullets were pulled.

Thanks for all the info guys!

I don’t think one grain will matter. I’ll just load em up and shoot them

TNoutdoors mentions the retain weight being higher than the advertised 147gr. ~6:50 in the video.

Seems like an awesome round for a 6-9" PCC.
