Ive been wanting a 3 lug can thatll handle 300 supers. Theres a few out on the market, but only a couple

Ive never ventured to this part of the forum very often so Im a little unsure of whats what and where to get them from. I have found a few separate places listed in here, but its a lot to comb through.

Is this something that's possible to form 1 and make myself with available components out there?

A 2" diameter can would be awesome, but I can probably settle for something a bit smaller if its easier to grab up the components.

Commercial choices would be Omega 9k, Omega 45k, Wolf 9SD, Hybrid, Griffin Optimus and Alpha.  You could use the booster housing for a Hybid (AC1417 which CTD has for $125) and thread it into DM's ASR tube. Or have DM or Rusty make an adapter for your 2" tube down to the threading of SiCo's encapsulated 3-lug mount so you don't need a booster housing to capture the spring (needed for Griffin and Rugged 3-lug mounts).

It would be hard to make one for much cheaper than a Wolf 9SD or an Omega 9k when there are deals on them.

You can 3-lug an Omega 300 with the Hybrid booster housing.  I don't trust the 3-lug mount with the tight Omega 300 baffle stack for blackout.  I tried it on 556.   Info in this post:

ETA: Grab a gun has the AC1417 for $103.  https://grabagun.com/silencerco-68.html

One of these might end up having cheaper overall cost with shipping:

https://www.ak-103.com/silencerco-ac1417-hybrid-piston-mount

https://vizardsgunsandammo.com/silencerco-ac1417-hybrid-piston-mount/

I didn't know there were any 3-lug mounts for $103.20, which must be MAP, or I'd have already started thinking out yet another build... thanks for pointing it out, I think?

Weirdly, the SilencerCo website shows the part number as AC2447 for the 3-lug... and that's $112 from the following:

The AC2447 is a three lug mount that threads into the booster housing on the Octane, Omega 9k/45k pistol suppressors. The booster housing on those suppressors is integral, either loctite bonded in on the Octanes, or welded in place on the Omega Ks.

The Hybrid tube is threaded the same as an Omega 300, Harvester 338, and a half dozen competitor rifle cans (VOX, Nomad, Hopaii, etc.).  This allow the Hybrid tube to take SiCo ASR or direct thread mounts. To use the Hybrid on a pistol, the ASR or DT mount is removed and the AC1417 booster housing is threaded into the Hybrid blast chamber. This allows Octane compatible pistons and mounts, including 3-lug mounts to mate.

The AC1417 is one of the few commercially available booster housings currently for sale and threads directly into Diversified Machines titanium ASR tube. So a 1.5" OD Form 1 can be used with a 3-lug  with those semi-available parts.

It's not economical, but feasible. Alternatively make an adapter bushing with the threads of the AC1417 but no un-needed (for Ac2447) cage, spring, or piston retaining cap.  3-lug mounts from Griffin and Rugged require the housing to compress the 3-lug spring unless another provision is made.

so would you then need a tube, baffles, end cap, and 3-lug mount to have a functioning can?

I see what you're saying, now... you need the AC1417 to use the AC2447 with a commercial DM tube. I never think of that as I thread my own tubes with little issue. Making a piston assembly, or 3-lug assembly, is more of a pain than I like, so I do buy those.

Yes, so rough pricing estimate DM ASR tube 1.5" X 7.8" @ $105, front cap $65, 7-8 Ti cones  $170,  Hybrid booster housing $105, SiCo or Griffin or Rugged 3-lug mount $125.   Engraving $30.

That's $600. Not including carbide or cobalt drill and end mill bits.

Omega 9k deal $600.  3-lug mount $125.

You don't save much for your labor.  If you have a lathe you can save on materials, but time invested goes up.  DM might have an adapter bushing that's $50 cheaper than the Hybrid booster housing, but the Hybrid booster housing lets you run Pistons on a pistol.

labor would be an additional for me, so to make it worth it over a commercial can i'd have to do something like use a larger diameter tube.
