I wet tumbled a couple of loads of .223 brass this afternoon, with a couple more standing by for tomorrow. This should be the last of the already decapped cases sitting around. I should be able to get these sized and trimmed in a few days.
My powder measure base looks good, but I’m letting the poly varnish take its time drying/curing before I put it together. I plan to post pictures when it’s done. And while I was putzing around in my loading room I found a box of Highborn (now Accura Outdoors) 120 grain .308 bullets I bought a long time ago for 300 Blackout. I may get to actually load these soon. |

Waited in most of the day for the courier. Finally appeared, late, with the box I was expecting...
Dillon XL650 casefeeder assembly and a few misc. parts and spares for the 2nd hand XL650 I picked up the other week. The press came with a #8 shellplate, now I also have a #5 too. Will give it all a lot of study before final assembly The original manual has a 1994 date to it Been using the Dillon 550 models for a while now, but feel the 650 will allow a more streamlined production of a couple of the most common calibers I use. I can see it being a slow process finding some of the parts I need given the present shortages and such in the US...but I've been lucky with a few things already - just a case of thinking laterally (i.e., I needed a .357 conversion kit, but found an unused kit in .22 Rem Jet at a silly low price last week; parts are the same apart from the powder funnel) |

Swapped my 550 out for my Co-Ax on my Inline Fabrications quick change mount. Since I cut down my old Dillon ball handle to replace the co-ax I 3d printed a tube to fill the gap since the diameter was smaller and then installed it. Got the press set up.
Then I deprimed ~300 6.5 Creedmoor cases I had and wet tumbled them. Attached File Attached File |

Went shooting and found out my 35 Remington Marlin likes 180 gr XTP and plated 158 gr RN.
Tried Unique, IMR-4895, and IMR-4227, all worked well and no pressure signs. Came home and decapped the 223, 9mm, and 35 Rem I shot today. Love the Lee APP. Got the 223 going in the wet tumbler now. Got in my order from American Reloading yesterday, 500 mixed 380 HP's and 500 mixed 9mm HP's. Got the 380 bullets sorted and I'm dry tumbling them in plain corn cob. 85 JHP's done. Now doing 90 HP's. After they are done I will start on the 90 gr Gold Dots. |

I decrimped all of the brass that needed it from my wet tumbling Thursday and Friday - about 270 rounds.
Then I prepped the first batch of brass for sizing tomorrow. I plan to spend much of tomorrow churning through this brass…it isn’t “all of” the .223/5.56 brass I have on hand, but this is all of the brass I’d already deprimed. It makes a big dent in the stash. |

I have some 45ACP RN rounds that need to be bumped back to 1.200. 1.23 was fine in a 1911 but in other pieces, there was occasional binding in the magazines.
I have the Dillon set up to bump and re-crimp. I'd like to set up the case feeder and see if I could auto feed the loaded rounds. No dropping them either. |

Looked at the brass I had on the shelf that I haven't attempted to organize since we moved two years ago. I reduced the number of boxes, got rid of some trash brass and found a bunch of cases that needed to be deprimed since they failed the case gauge and I had already pulled the bullets.
So now I've got a little over 100 small rifle primers that I didn't have before. I also sorted through some brass that a co-worked gave me. .308 was already kind of segregated so I only had to find a few straggler .223 cases. Ran the rest through the .45 shell plate I printed (waiting on the 9mm one and then I have to do the .40 as well). Also deprimed some fire 10mm I had and wet tumbled it. Unfortunately, I think I may have used too much lemishine so they're a little more dull than I'd like. Oh well. Also searched high and low for the bullets I was using for 10mm and can't find them. Guess I'll have to go grab new ones when I'm at the shop next. Attached File |

I sized around 500 .223 cases today. I had to scrap a lot of brass, though.
The NPA cases I found were all too blown out. Sizing them shaved a thin ring of brass from near the web…I gave up on them after five or six all did the same way. I also had just over 100 IMG Guat cases. A bunch had burs on the rims - and many of these were also bulged at the base. I only wound up with 75 usable cases. I wonder if burs or other rim defects correlate with hot loads. I have another 250 or so cases left to size, then I’ll trim the lot of them. I’m really going to load this brass, honest! But having it all sized gives me a lot more options, and doing all of this prep work has gotten me back into the swing of things. |

I fired a bunch of tula and wolf steel cased 45acp over the weekend. From mentioning previously in a different thread (related to 45acp loading) I was inspired to load up the steel cases after firing. I plan on doing that now that I have about 200ish freshly emptied steel cases. sometime this week I will load them up with some unique, wolf LPP's, and some older remaining stash of MBC 200gr SWC and 230Gr RN lead projectiles I still have laying around.

While bulk loading some 223, i figured out that if you thread a lock ring to the top of the powder measure stem, it is much more stable on the inline fab mount.

Finished processing 200 nickel 223 cases. 350 to go.
Side rant I ordered these online. Great price great shipping. Brass looks good. Terrible sizing inconsistencies after sizing. Anywhere from 1.7400 to 1.775. WMA was the longest and had gorilla bullet crimps. I managed 120 wma and 80 speer and fc trimmed to 1.749. The rest I will measure and sort after primer pocket work and chamfer and debur. Looks like I will have 289ish around 1.745. The rest way under. Was just a little frustrated and should have expected it with mixed headstamps. |

Yesterday I trimmed around 600(?) cases, with about 240 left. I had an online class throughout the day today, and the “complete the post presentation survey”, cleanup and getting the certificate downloaded took up my available time afterward. Hopefully I’ll get those last cases done tomorrow so I can move on to other things.
