Showed a new shooter my 550 in action.

He is a Polish guy who came here in his 30s and loves it.  He got his US citizenship about 5 years ago and we cycled together for years until my kidney donation sidelined that sport. He wants to reload and asked for an introduction.

Staunch Constitutional values.

Built a 16" SPR style AR for the purpose of starting load development with 60-69gr projectiles with CFE223. I have brass ready to load some 60g Vmax, 68g Hornady BTHP and some 69g Match Kings.

I partially disassembled my Dillon 550 and cleaned the bejesus out of it.  It’s shiny and blue again.

Tumbled clean the 50 or so cases of dirty .357 brass.  Loaded sone test charges with the RMR 69 gr BTHP bullets and CFE223.

Received my Weigatinny rail.  Now I have everything to mount a Burris 2X pistol scope on my GP-100 so I can get into developing some hunting loads.  The cycle of the shooting hobby and reloading hobby continues.

I actually found a box of 100 small rifle primers so I blew the dust of the press and made some BREN food.

Got a ladder test loaded up for some 60g Vmax and 68g BTHP for the new AR build. Hopefully the rain lets up for a couple hours tomorrow.

Tested my 9mm and .308 reloads,

Got a 5 gallon bucket of mixed brass along with a few pounds of range lead on Friday. Brass is pretty dark and grungy so I finally decided to get with the program and ordered a Frankford Arsenal wet tumbler.

While I'm waiting for that to come in I'll sort the brass and melt the lead into ingots. Need to made some .358 SWC as I'm running kind of low on those.

Think I'll finally get into loading .223 and maybe build a .300blk upper.

Loaded up some test rounds for the 45acp this afternoon. Raining out right now so checking for function, accuracy and numbers on the Lab Radar is going to have to wait . Passed the plunk test with flying colors and they should feed just fine being LRN profile.

Interested in the accuracy and numbers such as FPS, ES and SD on the chronograph

ETA.. These will be shot out of a FN FNX 45 T. No AR45's at this household

H-110 was $35 and the Alliant powders $40. Just missed out on some CFE 223.

Around 5k 9mm brass, $100.

6 boxes of 6mm bullets for $70.

Primers, lots of LR primers for $125-150k.

One guy had Federal SP Match primers for $200k. 2 sold from a case that started with 8 boxes.

Bullets were scarce, brass was everywhere, high priced. I worked a good deal for that 9mm.

Not shown was a large bag of about 1k, that went to a buddy.

Added 9 pounds of powder and 1900 bullets to the inventory that were given to me by a neighbor who is moving across the country.

Picked up some roll pins to replace the one I squished when I got a decaping pin stuck in a case on my old projector. Had just enough play to throw the indexing off.

I love that “bonus brass”

I loaded test charges of CFE223 under 69 gr RMR HPBT.  Hopefully I can test them out at the range.

After almost a year of my reloading being out if action due to a house move and needing to get a new bench set up i finally got back into production and loaded up about 300 223 55 gr Hornady plinkers with WC 844.  Had resized and primed last week but just finished the charge seat and crimp on the Dillon 550.  Big pile still waiting to be sized, start on that next week.

Little bit of 6.5 CM today.

Starline large primer brass, FGMM primers, IMR 4451, Hornady 140gr ELD-m seated .020" off the lands.

Started at 40gr as I have loaded the 143gr ELD-x for this rifle before in the same combination, and worked up to 42.9gr. That's where I found accuracy with the 143s.

DO NOT USE THIS LOAD DATA, IT IS ABOVE BOOK MAX. IT WORKED IN MY RIFLE, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN IT WILL WORK IN YOURS.

Wouldn't you know it, the 140s like the same load data as the 143s. 42.9gr gave me a sub 1/2 inch 6 shot group. Even if you add the fouling shot that is below the group, its still only .7". I will post a pic soon.

Separated into lc and wma headstamp.

Lubed 500 lc cases for resizing.

Used the Dillon 750 to quickly prime 400 cases after hand priming 100...of ballistic tools ready to load lake city for 69 gr rmr and 62 gr gold dot load development.

Went to the range to turn reloads into fun.

Stated my test loads for .357 using Win231, and had this happen in the second cylinder of the lowest charge,

Apparently that “once fire brass” I bought most likely wasn’t fired just once.

That was it for shooting handloads.  Now I have a bunch of primed and loaded ammo to tear down.

Resized 6.5G brass into 6mm ARC. Trimmed, deburred/chamfered, and loaded a bit over one hundred rounds.

Then swapped dies and finished off the BLC2 in the hopper on some 223 50gr vmax.

Went to Massey’s in Brownsville(daughter shooting movie down here)so I tagged along to see the remaining fam as daughter films from 11A to midnight, mostly two city blocks distance from Matamoros. In fact, wifee called and told me I was in MX and gtfo but it’s just the way the cell reads!

Massey’s was a bust/looked all growed up mostly so I gtfo.

Friday night dinner with cuz and his wife the federal prosecutor( why did I leave my 40 in the room?)

AND, why I’m here: finally got my mesh end caps for my FART and I can’t wait to try them out!

After an eight hour drive.

Loaded some 44 Mags. Trying the 300g XTPs loaded at the longer cannelure. Loaded some 240g cast bullets with 800-X. First time loading cast and that powder.

Sized/decapped a big bag of 38 spec brass. Wet tumbled and it is drying now.

I might load some 240 XTPs before I switch over the turret to 38 Spec.

Swapped my 550 to load 5.56.  I have a ton of prepped brass ready to go so this will go fast, no sizing just primer seating, powder and bullet seating with a slight taper crimp.  I have been sitting on the brass and supplies for a while.

Started printing parts for my 550 and another ColaBro sent me a print for an ammo tray.Attachment Attached File

Planned out some loads for an upcoming shoot with some buddies - 260 rem, 308, 223, and a couple loads for 300 blk.

Loaded the 308 and prepped the brass for the 260 loads.

Got the 300 blk lined up for a 9 year old buddy to help me load tonight.  His Mom is a single parent and he stays with us occasionally.  I am showing him how to load, shoot, repeat and he loves it - . The 300 blk is an AR pistol so it is like a youth rifle to him!

Finished decapping all of my problem .357 brass, and then put the salvaged primers into virgin Starline .357 brass.  Just a few more loaded rounds to pull down and I'm ready to move ahead with new .357 loads.

Smelted up some lead and linotype trying to get something at least 12BHN to cast various bullets.
Will cast and polycoat them in the next couple of days.
The cool thing about polycoating is it is easy to color code ammo according to loads.

I took this apart a month ago to change the broken heating element. I got a new pot for it too. It had been used by a guy to make fish weights for years.

It was rough.

I finally tried to put it all back together and finally figured the puzzle out with the help of Youtube.

A little fencing wire and a bunch of profanity, it is up and running.
