What is your truck/car gun of choice ??? Why ???
Rem 870 Police Magnum, versatility, slugs for range, buck med, shot close in.
It depends on the laws or what area you reside. I'd say if you ccw a double stack glock I'd just leave 3 or 4 extended 33 rounders in the vehicle.
If it was allowed and I could do it safely without fear of theft I'd probably build a dedicated PSA pistol kit and red dot. |
I've used an AR and shotgun but now I have a glove box safe that holds a PMR30 with 4 spare mags.
I spend 5 days a week armed with a Glock 45 and two spare mags all filled with 124 gr HST, Fox Labs 5.3 and cuffs.
So from about 0630 until 1700 that’s what it is. Off duty it’s a Glock 43x with two spare OEM mags with 147 gr HST If I’m going more than around my main AO I will slide a 10.3” 5.56 with a Sandman-S under the back seat and cable lock it. |
as many have done, I've looked at several options over the lead up to the 2020 election and troubles present in many blue cities... Ar pistols in 10.5" 5.56, 7.5" 5.56 , 7" 9mm , Mossberg Shock Wave 12ga, 10/22 Charger in chassis with folding tube... the search was for something that gives me over match at distances past 50m, while keeping muzzle blast (inside car) at a lower level.... my current iteration is what I believe is the best PDW for my situation... , a G17.3 with Vortex Venom mounted in a Recover Tactical 20/20 chassis with a forward mag holder... very compact, relatively inexpensive, able to be fired with the brace folded, and a very compact and reliable Glock platform that does not need a long receiver or recoil spring... 2" at 50m with 147s

A 10" AR with can is still short enough to wield inside my truck. Easily a 200yd gun.
7" 300Blk AR pistol
Because short barrels work better if you have to fight from a vehicle. |
Quoted: 7" 300Blk AR pistol Because short barrels work better if you have to fight from a vehicle. View Quote I’ve thought about switching to my 8.5” 300 BLK with Dead Air Wolfman. I haven’t had enough ammo for it to test it sufficiently. Once I can get my hands on it and can trust it it will probably take the 5.56 place. |
10 inch ar with collapsible brace.
Fits but just barely under the back seat of my colorado. |
My daily carry normally, but bring a 300blk pistol when traveling.
Mine is a RIA 2011 10mm with 2 extra mags.
10mm solves the issue(s) of car door glass, windshield glass, car doors, etc. It also makes people drop quickly. |
Suppressed MK 18 Mod 0 because it's awesome and it's not mine (just the optic, can, and sling are).

Changing things up again but last one was a modified Stevens 520. Take down so it packs and travels discreetly, easy to find and effective 12g ammo, steel and wood so it is "non tacticool". Also cheap so no big investment. https://i.imgur.com/wNDDWrA.jpg?1 For those that are not familiar this how it brakes down, no tools needed. https://i.imgur.com/wBYyNJt.jpg View Quote |

7.62mm AK with a folding stock; because it's cheap and the cartridge does well against vehicles.
Carry piece (9MM)
Also in the process of swapping parts as I am now going from a heavy 8.3” 300blk to a lightweight 7.5” 300blk as a backpack gun. |
My preference would be an AR and a pistol. I don’t carry the AR because I can’t find a quick access locking system for the AR to keep it in my truck. It’s a single cab pickup with very little under seat or behind seat storage space.

22 Magnum rifle, cheap pawn shop find. Because I use it to shoot varmits.

M&P in .357 Sig with Speer gold dot 125 grain, three magazines, added two mags after the BLM riots in Tulsa last summer.

The motorhome is well represented with respect to weaponry as it is truly our "home" many times per year. In my truck??? I keep a Mossy 500 with pistol grip in a roof rack. It's old but durable and very effective. Occasionally I may have an AR in the roof rack also and then there's my carry gun and I have a holster under the steering wheel with a duplicate of my carry gun. Enough ammo under the back seat to last a good while.

Charter Arms Bulldog Pug in .44 Special.
Rides in the console of every Jeep I've had since the early 90's. I wonder how many mile that thing has traveled. |

EDC when home is either a G19 or Smith 442 in the pocket. Can't have a long gun behind the seat of my regular cab pickup in NC as long guns have to be in the open. I can conceal handguns in the vehicle on my CHP.

Quoted: For a couple of decades I carried an AR-7 as my Jeep gun. The one time I needed it I found it wanting. Not in accuracy or reliability but in ballistic energy. Facing a two legged predator the .22 lr seemed awfully small. I decided I wanted something larger yet still readily disassembled for easy storage in the cab of a CJ-8. I ended up modifying a Mossberg 500 .410 shotgun for easy storage and quick assembly. https://i.imgur.com/IuIWfFz.jpg?1 A .410 slug is much more capable round than a .22 lr on bigger critters. View Quote So how long does that take to assemble? |

Lousy pic but it's the only one I have of it. It's made out of parts from the EE mostly so I don't have much cash tied up but it shoots great, It's main purpose is popping coyotes.

Depends on my mood but usually something in either a 7" or 8.3" 556 or 300blk ar pistol with the same Leupold vx-r patrol 1.25-4 spr scope and folding brace. Both fit just fine in my backpack and if I need to leave it in the vehicle one has a hidden compartment and the other has a bolted and welded in lock box. I can also throw in my plate carrier or battle belt. the backpack is a regular north face recon and has a 3a panel and medical tucked inside discreetly.
I used to carry a compact ar9 that used the same mags as my g19, but went back to these for the peace of mind. |
It varies, but I actually have gone back to my AK pistol as it reside concealed in an Eberlestock pack. My only caution (other than legal restrictions) is to consider how you would discreetly carry it on foot. The likelihood of you getting in an accident is far more than an active shooter engagement. A discreet bag will be more palatable waiting on the side of the road with LE as the wrecker picks up your truck...just a consideration.

10.5 AR with a Law Folder in backpack and a pistol. Pretty standard.
My spare tire well MIGHT be exactly the right size to hold a nicely equipped AR with optic and 2 30 roudn mags, 60 rounds of loose ammo. 62 grain federal soft point fusion. plus a g19 and 2 mags. im not worried. one gets me out of an issue, other is If I have to go THROUGH said issue.

Whatever I'm carrying, which is usually a G19 Roland or VP9SK. Unattended, loaded long guns are not something I'm comfortable with (to each their own on that).

Sig P226 in 357Sig. AR15 in 6.8 SPC.
Honestly any DA/SA handgun in the glove box and any semi-auto rifle in the trunk or backseat would be like plenty of firepower. You're more likely to need the handgun of course since it's faster to get into action. |

So how long does that take to assemble? Pull off the velcroed butt plate, tighten the special bolt to attach the stock to the receiver, reattach butt plate and attach the barrel. The stock bolt is a regular bolt with an extension welded on and a little buttery fly on the end. No need for a long screwdriver to reach in and screw in the stock bolt. All told about the same as the AR-7. |

XD45 in holster stuck between passenger seat and console with 2 spare 13 round mags. Gray blanket covering them from sight.
