Worth the money?

They look like fun toys.

They’re range toys for the most part. But fun to shoot. The Scout is far more practical, but the socom looks badass.

Totally agree.  The SOCOM is a blast, literally.  The issue comes that the parts on the end of the barrel are not standard.  I want to mount my AE30 suppressor and it is going to be a pain to do.

Excuse the video quality, it is 11 years old.

Mine with a Yankee Hill resonator can on the end.

I think they're worth the money I have a blast with mine. I have no problems making hits out to 300 yards on steel plates with the RDS.

Very easy to mount a suppressor, all you need is a Delta P designs muzzle adapter.

Smith Enterprises makes one but depending on what type of mount you are going to use, it would interfere with the gas plug. My Yankee Hill muzzle brake if I use the Smith Enterprises adapter would not allow easy removal of the gas plug. With the Delta P designs there's no interference between the end of the gas plug and my yhm mount.

Also more than likely you will need a Schuster adjustable gas plug. It's going to be gassy without the plug while running suppressed.

It will allow you to fine-tune the socom so that you can run it suppressed or unsuppressed.

Apparently,  others were considering one, too.
OOS now. I'll keep an eye out.

PSA has them in stock... wait until they have a sale on the Highland kryptek ones for 1200 bucks. I get that email at least once a month of those being on sale

That's exactly what I was looking at.
Now they are OOS.

The only ones that I see in stock or the Walnut stock tanker and the regular ones with a black stock.

Hell the next time they have the Highland kryptek on sale I might buy another one

A nice handy rifle. Just change out the muzzle device to make it way less blasty.

The most fun rifle I own.  Accurate, always makes a statement.

They should. My 1st Gen came with a fiberglass USGI.

Yes. The picture of mine in this thread is in a usgi fiberglass stock.

Scout is more practical, the Socom can be accurate if you handload with a powder suited for a short barrel.

Springfield was wise enough to build a ban compliant Scout and I LOVE mine!

They’re obnoxiously loud. Get one. I had one in an EBR and was fun to shoot but was heavy for what it was. I sold it to fund other projects.  I’d love to have an M14k, but they’re a few dollars more
