Hello NV users.  I want to put thermal on either a Ruger 10/22, or wife's S&W MP15-22, our problems are barn rats and foxes, occasional, close quarter coyote.  Distances are anywhere from 5-10yd out to 100yd max, most shots being the closer.  What do I need?  I know NUTH'n about night vision, except that it beats a Tac light!  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks.

How much do you want to spend?  More = better

You tell me for the parameters given, like I said, I don't know where to start🤷🏻‍♂️I'm thinking I have around $2k in guns I don't use, so if I kept it around/under that, I'd be happy.

I was thinking that after posting it, I'll put some distance between me and the rats, easy to bait outside for a farther shot.  Thanks👍🏻

My barn rats are impossible to kill that way.  Too fucking fast.

For the OP’s stated shooting distances of 10yds to 100yds, that’s what I was thinking  ….. but the Vibe is running $2500. For $2K he can get the similar Sightmark Wraith Mini-thermal.

Actually, the Hogster Vibe 25 is only $2195. Even a bit less for ARF.com members. It has a 4-year warranty and is a proven performer. I normally don't recommend 256 resolution thermals, but for shooting rats a Hogster Stimulus would even work. The issue may be too small of a FOV, so I would still highly recommend the extra money and get the Vibe 25 for this purpose. I don't recommend the stimulus for activities where PID at long range is necessary but this is not the case for the OP. I test products for Night Goggles and help people find the right thermal for their needs.

Any low power 384 core unit should do well. Theres a bunch out there. A good example of available options is here

The Sytong AM03-35 at $1599 is well under your price range and will do everything needed and more with LRF and ballistics for longer shots. It’s much better than the sightmark products.

Stop astroturfing.  This stuff is complete junk.

Ah yes, the cunning and elusive "close quarter coyote."

Here's my pest control rig. TS25-384. 5 to 100 yards is no problem for this optic.  PID past 100 becomes difficult depending on conditions but hits on targets to 300 is doable (on my Grendel not the 22).

I hav two 640 res devices and I'm very impressed with the TS25-384 capability and particularly value for the cost.
