The pictures aren't very good but here is mine. I will add that it needs to be organized and I just returned from a 5 year hiatus from shooting and hunting. I sold some guns and quit shooting when I lost my last job. I recently came back to shooting and picked up a Noveske Rogue Hunter as my first purchase in a while.

Need a bigger safe...but I'm going to make due by moving the mags out if needed in the next few months. No plans on another safe until I build a "safe room".

I'd rather reach in, grab, and go. Honestly, it would take me 90 minutes to pack the car for a day at the range. Now, if I take my time, I'm down to 30. ETA: that's not to say I would turn down owning that many firearm! That's HOT! |
Here is a couple of pics of my safe. The first pic is when I got it. Second pic is raised three inches off the ground by two 2X4, bolted to the ground, and trimmed. Third pic is after I wired it and put L.E.D.s in it. Ebay (I think I have a total of $50.00 into the lighting) Transformer, L.E.D.s, and Motion Detector, well worth it I think. |

They are controlled by a SensorSwitch motion detector mounted under the bottom shelf. I ran everything inside wiremold and added an outlet at the bottom for my Goldenrod. I think it turned out pretty good.  That thumb reminds me of my Wood Shop 101 teacher!!!

What was the price on that? American Security makes the safe and puts Barretts logo on it. They make 4 different sizes, some with only 1 sliding rack. You might be able to order the racks from a Amsec dealer and retrofit them to your safe. http://www.amsecusa.com/barrett/ I bought the safe through Able Ammo in Huntsville Texas with a phone call. There are other Amsec vendors out of state that I could have bought from and wouldn't have had to pay tax, but I figured if there was a problem it is only about 500 miles to Huntsville and I could take care of the problem in person... I ordered it on 8-29-11 and it showed up exactly one month later direct from the factory. It is a model BFB7250 and comes with one sliding rack, I ordered it with one extra sliding rack. It was $5112 plus $422 tax for a total of $5534 freight included. Yeah, I know, thats a lot of money for a safe. But I was at a point in my financial life where I could afford it. There are others out there with better fire protection, heavier metal, better security, etc. But I liked this one so I bought it. You only live once... You might notice the pink camouflage rifle case on the right side of the safe. You keep wife unit happy, you will be happy... What gauge steel does it have and how do the rifles stay secured on the rack while pulling out? |

Wow, the safe is nice with nice features but for 5k I wouldn't accept 12 gauge steel. I spent 4k for a Superior Supreme 55 and got 7 gauge steel. Expensive rifles like Barrett need to be protected by 7g steel. I believe the arfcom rule of thumb is that 12 can easily be hacked open with a axe correct? |

Well,
I'm working on my vault as we speak... 3200 Deg F for 90 Min rated fire door... 
1' concrete with rebar tied at 6" both horizontal and vertical with bent corners in #5 bar...All six sides... So far started to haul in some stuff... got my new toolbox in there...and a temp bench...Bought a new one have to assemble and haul down there... temp shelving unit...and some ammo and stuff... Only a few guns hanging out so far...Till the wall racking is installed...

Well its not a safe, but a cabinet in a secure location. Poor college student....I will be buying a safe as soon as I can afford it and graduate in May, not far away actually.
This was hand-made by me and my grandad. Cant fit everything but can fit more than it looks, as well as a substantial chunk of ammo. outside

Installed this power strip into one of my lower shalves. I normally use these in server racks. Came out pretty clean. There are 6 more plugs on the bottom of the unit. Now I just need to drill out back wall and run the wire, then install the dehumidifier and lights.

Got my first safe today. It might not be the best there is, it'll do for me. It has to be removed from the blocks it came shipped on, but I'm waiting until we redo the basement and will have something built to put it on and anchored down. A bonus was finding ammo I forgot about while moving into it.

dwshell - you need to store that ammo elsewhere. More room for more guns! (see my before and after). Plus I have three more handguns since that picture.

I see everyone on here trying to figure out how to make a slide out gun rack, so I figured I would give it a try. This actually did make my safe more useful. I did lose almost 3 inches of height on the slide out rack which made a 20" AR a little tight, but I got it. The way I designed the rack also fixed the problem of scopes in a safe. I turned a "24 gun" into a legit 20 gun safe. The slide out holds 8 long guns. I also built a couple pistol racks that hold a few handguns. I set the safe in a closet in my gunroom. I figure it would make it tougher to break into.
Inside the safe 
With the slide out extended. If the safe wasnt in the closet the door would open more making access a little easier. It still works fine though.
