Would a shotgun bore brush work on cleaning the gas cylinder on a tavor X95.

Yep you can use a shotgun bore brush.  Tom from IWI actually mentions a shotgun bore brush being great for cleaning out the gas cylinder in the barrel disassembly video on their YouTube channel.
