For some reason, the PTR 105 has caught my eye. I'm sure an 8.5in 7.62 will be a flame spitting dragon, but would an SDN6 survive? Would it even be worth trying it?

There was some talk about unburnt powder being an issue when suppressing very short rifle cartridges.

ie unburnt powder in your can, fire another round, bang/boom (residual oxygen permitting).

It would destroy your suppressor very quickly.
It would also void warranty

How about the new SilencerCo Chimera? It says it has no barrel length restrictions would that work?

SDN6 would survive, but over time the baffles will erode, especially if using NATO spec ammo. If you use a brake they will last longer.

As mentioned, AAC warranty on SDN6 on 7.62x51 is >= 14.5 inches.

Well that kinda sucks. The next shortest they list is 12.5.
Truth be told an 8.5 in 7.62 would be one hell of a range toy but not much more than that

Yeah HK51-ish weapons are fun, but completely impractical.

I have a Phantom brake on the way.

I was going to try it with my M2 Phantom 7.62.

I have not contacted YHM about length warranty.

Guess I should first.

I love my Volmer made HK51, its one of my favorite machineguns.

However, it is also one of the most polarizing guns I own.  Folks either shoot it and turn around with the biggest shit eating grin on their face clamoring for another mag or say that is the most terrible gun they have ever shot and can't wait to hand it back.

That said, my impression given the fireball and associated concussion that come out of that gun, is that any standard commercial suppressor you put on it is going to be in for one hell of a ride and  a drastically shortened lifespan.

On my gun at dusk/dark the fireball almost reaches ground level and the gun rattles your teeth.  The only gun I have where the concussion is similar is my short barrel variant Barrett 50cal,  M82CQ.

I use mine exclusively for carbine competitions.

I have a K3P (G3K copy); slightly longer barrel but still by PTR. I'm running into barrel shoulder and thread/bore concentricity issues, so be aware...be very thorough when checking alignment.

My M2 Phantom is rated for a 10.5 barrel.

Their brakes and FHs are a couple of inches long.

I wonder if that counts.

Love the K3P/G3K. That’s my suggestion for suppressed

Now with more SBR.

Dead air warranties anything, and they have a 15x1 flash hider ready to go..
Just saying. Thought about it. I don't plan on doing it consistently but will definitely give it a go.
Question is, S or K? flash hider cap or no flash hider cap?

I have a sandman k and got a couple mounts for my pdw and hk53, they look dumb on there. The silencerco mount actually goes over the end of the barrel like the standard flash hider so its looks way better.
