I feel like I'm the last person to see these and they did not disappoint

I counted 35 sats on video so about 50 total, dam near went from horizon to horizon.

Neat.  I'm assuming those are just recently launched and not yet placed into proper orbit?  You can see a few of those 'trains' on this.  https://satellitemap.space/#

Yes, they have small thrusters to slowly move into their final orbit. Its also used to de-orbit them when they break or hit the end of their lifespan. When they release them from the rocket, they kinda just mechanically slingshot them all at once so they string it like that

Elon Musk is StarLink.

I saw a group a few years ago one dawn, SW to NE, but they were moving a lot faster than those, and were more compressed together.
I'd guessed they had recently been deployed, and had barely started working their way to final orbits.

That's really cool. They said they will have service in South Texas by the end of the year so I signed up for it

Hey OP, thanks for posting that. I’ve seen them quite a few times since getting nods last fall. I’m quite surprised that sky stuff doesn’t get posted here more often.

Ha! We saw that a couple months ago on the way back from town. The wife spotted them first. Scared the crap out of us. Thought war had broke out with somebody. Once we got back into cell coverage, she was able to look up what they were. Big sigh of relief. Once we knew what it was it was kind of cool. I guess. Hopefully it'll make our internet better soon at least.

Thats pretty cool! I love looking at the sky through NV. Will we be able to always see these satellites, or only during the launching/placement phase? It's cool to see but if they're always all up there like that, and always visible, it might kinda "spoil the moment" if you're trying to just stargaze.

Last summer i saw some satellites or something flying around that you could only see in NV, but the two of them nearly collided, and one launched itself over 90° from the original trajectory. It was the craziest thing i had seen in the sky, it completely lost all forward momentum and jettisoned itself in a totally new direction. I didn't know they could do things like that so sharply in such a short time, it only took it a fraction of a second to completely stop moving one way and go a completely different direction.
