GENESEO, IL, (05/03/18) – Springfield Armory is severing ties with Dick’s Sporting Goods and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, in response to their hiring a group for anti-Second Amendment lobbying.

This latest action follows Dick’s Sporting Goods’ decision to remove and destroy all modern sporting rifles (MSR) from their inventory. In addition, they have denied Second Amendment rights to Americans under the age of 21. We at Springfield Armory believe that all law abiding American citizens of adult age are guaranteed this sacred right under our Constitution.

It is clear where Dick’s Sporting Goods and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, stand on the Second Amendment, and we want to be clear about our message in response. Their position runs counter to what we stand for as a company. At Springfield Armory, we believe in the right and principles fought for and secured by American patriots and our founding forefathers, without question. We will not accept Dick’s Sporting Goods’ continued attempts to deny Second Amendment freedoms to our fellow Americans.

Might need to buy another XD or that M1A now!

I don't hold much of a grudge for S.A.. They attempted to get themselves exempted from lending legislation.

We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.

Ahh, I thought they dumped all the guns. No matter, I never shop there anyway. SA has their own issues, but I like the move anyway.

+1  As a manufacturer SA shouldn't have been under the same regs as retail dealers and FTF business.

I think the issue was tha Springfield agreed to drop its opposition to the bill in exchange for the exemption, not that they were seeking an exemption.  That being said, I think this move with Dicks is a good start towards redemption.  Not all the way, but it helps.

I’m not sure what Springfield guns Dicks had, since they don’t carry ARs anymore, and as far as I know, Dicks doesn’t sell handguns.  Do they sell M1As?

Dick's owns the Field & Stream stores, which do sell handguns.

When I worked at Dicks we sold M1A's there special order but sold them and some Dicks in Texas I have seen did still sell handguns!

Know what two companies backing out would hurt them most! Remington and Savage I sold more of these two brands then anything else because of the great deals that you could get.

Last I knew Dick’s here in Georgia sold handguns but I’m not sure if they still do. Wouldn’t buy there anyways, way too expensive and given their current position, screw them.
