Is there a source or secondary use of some device that is straight enough I can slip it into the bore if a barrel to sight if my baffles are concentric?

I would use a dowel, but don't trust them to be straight enough.  I need something like 12 inches or so I think.  That would give me 4 inches into the bore and past the can.

Eta: this is for a 9mm build

Do a search for "alignment rod". Between this subforum and the silencers one, you should receive multiple threads. Exact products, etc, will be detailed in those threads.

9mm = 3/8" . trip to Ace.  just roll it on a tabletop and you will see if it is straight

Best source I've found.  Bought a number of variations from them and they all were delivered perfectly straight.  McMaster-Carr.

Here is a 3/8" rotary shaft that is 12" long for $7.36 at McMaster-Carr

Here are some others.

Just put an order into McMaster and looks like I'll see rods on Tuesday!

I measured an alignment rod I got from Griffin and wouldn't you know that it's the exact diameter as the rod listed in the chart above. I'm sure that was no surprise too many but I just had to confirm myself.

question for the hive - to check straightness, would rolling it on a glass table be sufficient?
