So my MCX Virtus 11.5 gasses me so hardcore suppressed its unlivable.  I don't mean a poof of gas in the face - I mean a GIANT CLOUD.

Was doing car drills today and me and the passenger had to bail the hell out after 10 rounds.

I have tried both gas settings to no avail.

Anyone else have this experience?

@coregon

I know you were gonna list gas piston port sizes at some point.  Did you happen to get that going?  I'm thinking of trying a smaller gas valve first - I really want this to be my primary short gun.

What suppressor and ammo? Tried sealing the charging handle with silicon?

556 M855 on the ammo.  YHM Turbo K for the suppressor, so fairly high back pressure.

I run this whole setup on an MK18 with 0 gassing issues.

I haven't tried messing with the CH yet.  I have done the silicone trick before on other guns.

thats just blow back from your can. all that gas has to go somewhere.

i’ve never noticed a gas difference btw DI AR’s and piston AR’s.

are you left handed? i am and noticed its way worse that shooting righty. i get almost nothing in my face shooting righty.

On my 16" DI midlength adjustable gasblock AR and Saker ASR 556K, I had a significant amount of blowback with rapid rates of fire, however the same can on my MCX 11.5, I have very little blowback, and almost none at a low rate of fire. Some cans produce much higher amounts of gasses than others, such as my Ultra 7 on my PWS Mk109 with 300 BO S&B 200gr subs has quite a bit of blowback.

MCX is literally the gassiest piston gun I have ever shot...its terrible...hence why I do not own one anymore...

I found that the stock charging handle does the best at keeping the gas at bay. Raptors let a bunch of it out the right side latch.

For 556 it is a bit gassy, depending on the can..(SF cans are the lowest gas for this gun from my experience).    For 300 blackout however.....its great.

Anyone tried with DeadAir Sandman w/ 556?

huh I never noticed an issue with my SF Mini...  this is the pistol hybrid 11.5" gun they sold a couple years ago so pre Virtus upper, still has the two gas settings.

I really wish Sig would make the gas valve's readily available and tell us what the sizes are.

I would love to try and make my 16" 300 Blackout barrel work better with supers - it is waaaay over gassed.

Maybe a capable aftermarket company such as PMM could make something like this.
