First post thing.
But there is nothing like running a uspsa limited gun at full speed on a field course

I vote bolt action rifle. Something about the challenge of hitting steel at distance.

I've been shooting USPSA since late 82, and 3 gun from 1995-2015, with a bunch of Area6 pistol and 3 gun matches. 6 Ft Benning matches, 5 Ft Bragg matches and a bunch of local matches

the most "fun" shooting was at the last 5 Chevy Truck Sportsman's Team Challenges matches when they were in Florida... Rem1100, 10/22, M41, 1911 (.45) .... the flush and flurry.... 3 team members in a Sporting Clays style position... 5 birds thrown simultaneously  and then 1 a second until all 50 birds were thrown... rifle... off hand 90 yd 4" targets, 75yd and 45 yd targets .... 2 1/2minutes   20 rounds loaded..... combo, rifle and pistol  45 and 75 yd vertical banks, with 4" and 2" holes with falling plates behind, the 4" would unlock the 2"... after initial magazines one would reload for the rifle...sporting clays style event, and precision/practical/ and 35 yd 8" plates

Suppressed .22 pistols are pretty damn fun.

Lately my fave is the Winchester 1873 lever gun in .357 Mag.

Semi-auto long guns take the cake but I can certainly appreciate the pistol votes. They present a good challenge and require a lot more work to run effectively.

Shotguns, wheel guns, and precision rigs don't do a whole lot for me.

I love them all equally, but getting the Benelli M4 out and blowing though seven rounds as fast as I can still makes me giggle.

My favorite is my 7.5” AR pistol

Since I started shooting skeet and sporting clays about six years ago, I hardly ever shoot my rifles or pistols. It is so much more fun and challenging shooting flying targets.

Poll fail.
Full autos are the most fun.

Bolt action rifles for me, followed by lever action rifles.  I don't know why but there is just something fun about running manually operated firearms.  I also really enjoy precision shooting and it's hard to beat bolt guns when it comes to accuracy.  I also enjoy shooting Magnum calibers so that is what most of my guns are chambered in.

I don't know why but I don't find semi-auto rifles all that exciting to shoot.  Mine mostly sit in the safe and collect dust.

Funny enough though I love semi-auto shotguns.  Over/Unders are oddly fun to shoot, too.  I plan on getting one eventually for trap/skeet/sporting clays.  I have no interest at all in pump shotguns.  Had a few and didn't care for any of them aside from my Browning BPS.

Don't care to shoot handguns at all.  I'm also admittedly not that great with handguns and am super hit and miss with them.  There's a few I shoot really good with like my CZ Shadow 2, USP Expert, Sig P220 series, Glocks, and revolvers... everything else I have tried beside those, though, like the Beretta 92, S&W M&P, HK P30, FN FNX, etc., I have shot very mediocre.

I do a lot of pistol/rifle shooting these days but I started out shooting trap. Smashing those lofty targets just right combined with the pressure of hitting the next one is a lot of fun.

Poll fell just short- long range bolt actions are the most fun and rewarding

Machine guns!!! But semi-auto rifles are pretty fun also

I like rifles the most, then pistols and I haven't shot a shotgun in years.

Rifles- semi or bolt action, don't matter. Pistols are fun, and, although I'm a good shot at trap skeet, I can't remember the last time I took my shotgun out.

I'm all about hunting and fighting guns. I also like a bit of a challenge and don't care if I completely bomb a club match.

Sometimes the two over lap, but I generally dedicate them. I've taken game with my fighting guns.

Sometimes you buy a gun just because you think its cool, but for me it's not cool if it's not accurate and useful.

I generally practice the most with fighting guns, but for now spend the most time with the hunting guns. Especially squirrel hunting.

I have also almost sworn off loud guns, no threaded barrel, no care. The other day I missed a squirrel and he just looked at me. Had deer run just 50yds after they heard a suppressed 45 (because I'm the asshole that will actually hunt squirrels with a centerfire handgun).

Same here.  Omitted from the poll.  Ought to fix that. Shooting clays, doves or upland hunting with a light, quick handling 20ga. O/U is a lot of fun.  I know poll has six spaces, but O/U shotguns are very popular in shooting sports.

Next to that is my obsession to shoot tiny sub 1/2 MOA groups with centerfire rifles with several different caliber bolt guns and with my precision Recce-style .223 Wylde chambered AR.  This feeds my handloading passion as well.

Everyone is missing the point.  Fun shooting has much more to do with the targets and the scenario than the type of gun.

Shooting paper is necessary but boring.

A round of skeet, a good battle on the dueling tree, the ssssssPANG of long range silhouettes, vaporizing a watermelon, a good dynamic drill of some kind, teaching a kid for the first time, these are all among the best experiences.

That is a great question. I love shooting claybirds, I love shooting pistols but most of all like shooting steel targets with an AR.

While it's not for everyone, my favorite is schuetzen style target shooting with a classic turn of the century single shot rifle. Have a 32-40 high wall made in 1889 among others that is awesome. 200 yard offhand target shooting with a tang sight can be humbling and very rewarding.
