Any recommendations for a good scope mount for a full size M1A ?
Thanks in advance .

It's a bit expensive, but the Smith Enterprises inc. Mount is EDM cut, forged steel and has been good to me for years

I use the GDI brand since it's the only one I know that lets you still use the iron sights even with the optic. Other ones you have to remove the optic or rest it really high up.

Here's a recent thread from M14 Forum: http://m14forum.com/m14/374177-best-m1a-scope-mount.html  ARMS, Bassett and SADLAK are all well regarded over there.  The Bassett mount will let you use irons.

I wanted the lowest possible scope mount, so I went with A.R.M.S. #18 and 30mm super low rings.

I had to remove the rear sights (2 M1-A Super Match rifles) because it interferes with the scope.

The end result is a very useable scope height. I went with Leupold Mark 4 MR/T 2.5-8x36 scopes. Leupold's Mark 4 SPR 1.5-5 illuminated reticle scopes would also work great in this application.

I’m very satisfied with my Sadlak mount. Has held zero since installation and seems like a real quality piece of equipment. Also the instructions for installation are fantastic.

I went with the Sadlak and couldn't be happier. Easy install, rock solid. Still allows the use of irons using a 42mm exit bell on the scope and low qd rings.

I went with the Bassett Standard seems to be pretty good .Now I need to find some 30mm Weaver rings, medium height cause my Leupold objective is a 40mm bell.Anyone have any suggestions concerning rings on this application.

I got the ARMS #18.  Very nice.  I shot a couple hundred rounds before even mounting the scope to be sure rounds ejected and they did.

I got the Leupold QD I think medium height and they clear the rear sight by about 1/8".  I like the set up.  I can take the scope off and use the irons quickly if I want.

Bassett.
Very simple to put on and off and a very good mount.

Second the arms mount. Be careful with rings. Get them after you have the scope because you may not be able to clear the rear sight of you go too low. I have meds on mine

Sadlack or Smith or Basset . I own a Sadlack and it works like a champ. Has been mounted for years and holds zero great

I've put the A.R.M.S. #18 mount on every M1A I've owned and been extremely satisfied. The other mounts put the optic up just too high for use without a huge cheek pad and I hate using anything other than very well made pad the Triad Tactical.

I have a Sadlak, it's been great so far. I can't speak for any other brands so take that for what it's worth. The Sadlak has been good to me so far. SA Loaded with Leupold VX-R Patrol 3-9x40 (Illunminated) on Burris ETR Low rings along with a Fulton Armory M1A Cheek rest for proper alignment. It's works great for me

I put a scope on my NM M1A at one point for about 200rds, then realized the error in my ways.

But if I had to do it again I would use a low-pro Bassett. So when you switch back and forth or decide to just keep it stock it's not a pain to remove.

Now I have to decide what scope to run.

Thanks. For $80, and some tung oil I already had in the cabinet, I think it turned out good... other than the broken handguard, and special "handguard pliers" I bought

I bought a $20 chinese mount off amazon for casual use (load development).  Bedded it to the receiver.  Works for what I need it to do, but I have to lok-tite the thumbscrew down.

I bought a Smith Enterprise steel mount for mine on sale years ago.  It was not a picatinny model.  I didn’t think it mattered for the price.  I have a spare scope on a Warne Skeleton base that was picatinny and would not fit.  I opened the Smith Enterprise mount up with a file.  Some touch up paint later, it works like a champ.  If I was going new, i’d Jump on a Sadlak titanium offering.
