If you reload and like long range, creedmoor is a superior cartridge in every way.
If you stick with .308, get a 1/10 rifled barrel so you can use the longer, heavier projectiles.
I wouldn't get a bench cannon, you don't need that to punch paper unless you're doing it from super far away and they're powder hogs.
I'd honestly always want a .308 bolt gun on hand just due to the ubiquitous nature of the ammo. Other calibers offer better performance in one area or another, but none is as common as .308 if you need ammo now that isn't 5.56.
So for me, it would be a long-throated 1/10 .308 that I could stuff high BC heavy and long projos into. I also don't have anywhere to shoot that .308 can't touch, so there's that.
if you have access to super-long ranges, 6.5 creed is the most efficient way to get there that has factory ammo commonly available. If you need more range than that . I'll let others chime in.
