Today is a big day! I picked up the SCAR 16, cleaned it up, put some sweetness on it and snapped some pictures.
I'm taking it out tomorrow and will put together a full range report afterward. At first glance, I love how everything snaps off and then back together for cleaning.

This actually came up a bit ago on the FN forum (I wasn't aware of it's existence either). Here is a link to a gunbroker add for one - does not show it mounted but gives a better idea of it...
FNH Rail Looks pretty cool, but a bit too much rail for me, I'll stick with the Branham extension. |

I drilled out the spot welds, added more steel to the strap to get around the magwell then tacked it back together. Then trimmed it to match the magwell opening profile. The redimag mag sits lower but it makes a good rest when prone. |

| The Elcan is a pretty close 1x but the Jpoint is crystal clear and faster really up close, I have only a 25m point of aim impact on it just for CQB distance plus it is only 1.7inch off the bore. The Elcan on a SCAR at room distance is a 4inch hold off. The Jpoint actually comes mounted on top of our Elcans but with the SCAR you are now talking 5-6inch hold off way too much to be practical. So the offset mount really works well on the SCAR. keep in mind every optics mount and height is built off the M4 which is too much for the SCAR since the SCAR add just about a inch additional higth above bore. |
