Just got my barrel back from Class 3 Machining. Great work and best turnaround time in the business.
Had it cut to 14.5 and pinned/welded a Smith Vortex. Attached File |

Thanks. I’m not sure. I don’t have any .556 cans so wasn’t really a consideration at the time for me

Nice setup.

Not gonna lie, that looks nice. Too bad you couldn't get a one piece CASV rail instead of having to put all those together...

Can’t wait to get this back, looking forward to seeing how it performs with my Socom2 mini. I’m also running it with a TA33 now, figured it would be much more functional with a 3x ACOG to get a little more use out of those 7.62 pills. |

Had a question too, mine doesn’t have the white engraving that most here have. Anyone know why it when it changed? Mine is engraved but just the same color as the receiver. View Quote |

Bought a Scar17 in August and have been having fun upgrading it since. I wanted to get the black model as it is not as common as the FDE Scar17 model, the black scheme looks great in person with the upgrades below. The premise of this gun will be for general range/steel target use, hog hunting, deer hunting, and medium to long range shooting. Below are the upgrades as of 12/9/19 - Kinetic Development Group MREX MK2 MLOK rail 6.5" - Geissele Super Scar trigger - Strike Industries black MLOK covers - BCM Mod3 vertical grip - Scar black Ergo Grip (great value and feel) - Atlas bipod (need QD block) - Silencerco ASR muzzle brake - Silencerco Specwar 762 suppressor (very quiet) I run two optics - Steiner P4Xi 1-4, on a Larue SPR QD mount - Leupold Mark 5HD 3.6-18x44 with Tremor3 reticle illuminated, on a Leupold Mark 6 bolt scope mount, eventually will get a Larue SPR 35mm mount Both scopes are ideal for this rifle, the Steiner is a great value with crisp glass, and robust design for the notorious Scar recoil. The next upgrade will be a Kinetic Development Group stock and the QD cups for a sling. |

I took this rifle to the range to sight it in with the 1-4x Steiner and was impressed to find a .3 MOA with Winchester Deer Season XP 150 grain bullets at 50 yards, and a .7 MOA group at 100 yards. I have yet to take the new Leupold Mark 5HD scope out to see what the true 100 yard accuracy will be. I have shot 175 grain Federal Gold Medal Match and was not impressed compared to the Deer Season XP ammo. I do plan on using some Hornady Match .308 ammo soon. I strongly believe this rifle is capable of 1/2 MOA at 100 yards with the right ammo and no hangover. I look forward to hearing what other members have found for accuracy with alternatives to FGMM 175 grain rounds. I have yet to use a chronograph for data gathering so am interested to learn what the Scar17 can do with 150 gr, 168 gr, and 175 gr loads in regards to FPS velocity. |
