Considering cutting my VEPR-12 down to 12-14" and adding a choke.
Anyone hear done it to where it will still run light loads? - bulk ammo would be great, but really like the handling of low recoil Fiocchi ammo. Looking for what the port hole sizes that should be enlarged to |

Recently cut down a VEPR to pin/weld a GK01 on it, which put the barrel right in that range.
Ended up having to open the ports substantially. Joined the front two laterally, and turned the rear three into a triangle. I had tried just opening the rest most and enlarging the front, but then it would only run 1200+ FPS buck and heavy field loads. |

Didn't open up my ports at all on my 13.5" and I can run federal multipurpose red box birdshot. (it's advertised as 3 dram equivalent but may be closer to 3.25 dram). It also runs suppressed.
Reliability Work Completed: Reduced power recoil spring from CSS Vepr 12 ALG AKT trigger group from 4range Polished bolt and rails Russian gas puck from 4range

12.5" Vepr 12 I did not do any port work to it, just smoothed the rails. It will run walmart bulk ammo. I've been thinking about cutting it to 10.5"

@cherenkov what length did you cut it down to?
I think I’m going down to 12.5” from the 13.5” I’m currently at. The suppressor makes it too long!

12.5" is what I cut it down to.
Runs most things very well without a choke and even runs crappy low powered bulk with mod and full chokes - I did forget to mention I did add the Russian performance puck the "Korotish" from Legion. I was so worried about it not running when cut down based on some threads posted online stating poor functioning, but this thing is great. |

When I took off the gas tube and removed the gas puck there was some carbon floating around in there that was probably blocking some of the gas ports. Wasn't difficult to clean but something to think about if your gun has any hiccups. (suppressed use may make it dirty faster too) |
