Did they really say "Sweet"? Are you sure it wasnt "Sweat" or "Zweet"? They could have even meant "Suite."

If they are going to be picky, shouldn't it be: Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives And isn't it NFA not NSA? I just went with the info in the above link and it was no problem Seydou |

First of all... this topic has just loads of great information. I find myself reading thru it time and time again. GREAT JOB. On question I have on the form 1, if anyone knows. I am seeing that TitleII.com actually has at least two verison of the same form. The updated dates at the bottom... is that from TitleII os that from the ATF? The info looks pretty much the same, but I'd hate to get my junk kicked back just because I used a "too old" version of the Form 1. Does it make a difference? And does the barrel length include the flash suppressor? |

Question about the fingerprint cards: I picked up a couple of fingerprint cards at work. They are the blue cards and on the back, they are numbered FD-258 (REV 5-11-99). All of the fields on the front are blank. Is this a card I can use to submit fingerprints with the Form 1? Is there any information that is put in the "ORI" field? Thanks |
| I'm just getting my stuff together, too. The blue fingerprint cards are used for a variety of FBI function, such as background checks for employment. You leave the ORI field blank and they'll fill it in when they get it. My cards came from a local police department and they already had that PD's ORI typed in. |

I have a couple of questions. 1. Should I get my papers filed now for an SBR if I am planning on moving to a new house in the same town in a couple of years? 2. I am a student, and live in Fort Worth, tx in Tarrant county. Does anybody know if which CLEO I go to, the police chief or sheriff. 3. Has anybody in Tarrant county had a problem with getting the form signed? 4. What do I put in the field that ask Signature and Title of person Delegated? 5. Also do I need to print the application double sided. Or can I print single sided. Thanks for the help Thanks for the help. |

I finally decided to get my SBR papers going because of the looming administration change. No sense waiting until it can't be done anymore. From reading the old posts... the approval could be 6 months out, so the sooner the better. If your CLEO won't sign it, you have other options. But start with him. There are clear definitions of who can sign as the CLEO right on the form. In the section 13 f the Form 1, you fill in your name in the "name of maker" field, then the 5 lines below that, where the CLEO, I would leave blank. Let the CLEO fill those in - including the date. If the CLEO signs the form, he fills in the top line and signs there. If he delegates it to someone else, they use the second line. If there is no delegation, the second line stays blank. |

Well....you should hurry up and do it, just my 2 cents on this ....you never know what the Democrats will do !... as far as how long it could take, I got my package back in less than 6 weeks !!! I wasnt expecting it to be that fast, but then again I hear of some cases taking 6 months so the sooner the better !

No kidding on the Dems, aye? I have a primal fear that President Hillary (God save us all) will jump all over another assault weapons ban, and screw us all. And I'm pretty sure that the $200 tax will be addressed at some point, too. So only 6 weeks for the stamp???? hock.gif Did you file corporate or individual? That is very encouraging. Does anything go in Line 6, or is that only for SOT? -------(I ask because I have an EIN for my corp) 2: What do I include in the envelope, is this correct? -------2 Form 1's -------2 Citizenship forms -------Copy of Articles of Inc -------$200 check Thanks

Line 6 is only if you have an FFL and corresponding EIN. Otherwise leave it blank. And that's all you need. Question for you... for serial number, line 4g, did you use the one already stamped on the lower or did you make up a new one? I used the one on the gun... I've heard from sources that say it both ways. But reading the directions on the Form 1, it says put your own serial number in there. Just wondering if I effed it up. |

I have run up and down all the pages on this thread and some questions with answers are close to what I am about to ask. I have seen previous posters stating that the barrel length "<16 inches" and OAL "<26 inches" have been approved. Has anyone done this recently? Would that mean if it was approved that I could place any length upper I choose (.223 / 9mm) on my AR and own multiple length uppers? (I only own 1 AR) TIA. |

I had mine approved with "<" for barrel/oal and also multi for caliber. One thing to try also, I did it as a test case. I had Halo Mfg down here register my first one for me and he said he always lists his this way with no problems. Maybe see if Pat would do it for a small fee since he's a mfg he may have more luck. |

Just got back from my gun dealer with a Bushmaster AR15 Lower with collapsible stock. Paid $344.50 Including Sales Tax. Will begin filing out my paperwork using an existing LLC that I have 100% ownership of. My question is: Is it legal to buy and possess a short barreled upper before getting my approval IF (and I stress IF), the short barreled upper is stored at another location, where there are no AR15 lowers on premises? In other words, am I correct in understanding that the actual "crime", is when an unregistered lower is on the same premises as a short barreled upper? This way I can cut down on the start to finish time. |
Good. Guess I'll go ahead and order in my short barreled upper to another location, that's 100+ miles away from where my lower and any other AR15s are, and wait til I get my approval before I "unite" the two. Thanks. |
Personally, I would wait for the approved paperwork to come back before ordering the short-barreled upper. |

First I am glad this thread is here, however it is way to long to find the quick answers. Here are my questions: I just did the revocable living trust paperwork, now I am filling out the form 1. 1. For a trust is it just the one page or do we need both even though a CLEO and picture is not needed? 2. On form 1 what is a trust, indivual, corp or other business entity? 3. FOr question 3b list the trust as the applicant's name 4. for question 10 list the trust name again? 5. Is a cashiers check ok? Thank you for your help, any other input from those who have down trusts is greatly appreciated |

informative thread :) Just recieved my first approved form 1 today & now have a stack of copies sitting next to me. The atf's website says to carry a photocopy w/the weapon and safety store the original. Is there any problem with carrying a reduced version? Or should a full size copy be kept just in case someone wants to be anal about it? |

4h is where you put what you will be engraving. i.e. joe dirt trust calamazoo tx edit: ok, I see your question now. There seems to be debate and I have to tell you, I was tempted to leave 4h blank and then see what happened. I went back and forth but finally decided to list my name - trust - city - state. engraving arfcom discussion That's all it is isn't it. A discussion of what each arfcom poster thinks.

I called the NFA branch about a week ago, and the guy said you dont need to put on the form your "name/location" you intend to engrave on it if you're converting an existing rifle into a SBR.....they just expect to see the original mfr markings on the form. He didnt say you couldn't, but you don't need to. He confirmed the need for engraving, but he suggested putting it on the barrel. His reasoning went something like if you later go back to a 16" barrel, just write them a letter so they can update the description in the regisrty and you don't have unnecessary engraving left on the receiver, if you prefer not to. (I know there is a well-grounded argument out there about the engraving needing to be there no matter because it is still a registered NFA rifle even if you go back to a "long" barrel). He volunteered the idea about engraving the barrel....I didnt even ask about that. I had just confirmed that engraving was indeed still expected to be done. He also said you do not have to engrave it ahead of time...just engrave it after you get the approved form back. As far as length, he said list the one length you expect it to be. if you decide on a different brl length later, just update them wiith a letter. |

I'm going the LLC route for this SBR, and nowhere in the 26 pages does it mention if you have to submit any LLC paperwork to support the company's existance... I know for Corporations you have to supply the Articles of Incorporation, but what do you have to supply filing a Form 1 as a LLC?? TIA! |
