Good evening,

Been toying with the idea of a bolt 22, have 3 10/22s with can but looking to change it up. Mainly looking at the ruger model since It supposed to take the same mags. Is there anything else I should consider? Is it worth it keeping commonality or look at other options.

I have had several over the years my favorite 22 rifles were a marlin 39a lever action and an old Winchester 52.  If I wanted an accurate rifle I would strongly consider the CZ  22 rifles.  I've had both Savage and Marlin bolt 22s and they are about the same.  I do prefer Ruger's rotary magazine but Ruger's motto has always been : "Ruger who needs accuracy"  I think 22 rifles years ago shot better than those built today. I also think a lot of 22 ammo is crap and the CCI seems to shoot better than most. Also I think sub sonic 22 ammo tends to be more accurate.  Most of they people I have talked to who own a CZ are very pleased with them so I suggest you consider those or look for an old Marlin 39a or old Winchester 52. If however the Ruger American is your choice then please let us know how it does. I've always been happy with Ruger's 22 pistols not always so with their 10-22's they don't shoot like the one I bought in the 60s.

Yeah recently got into the 22 game and it's been fun. Got a savage b17 a  couple months ago and it's been alot of fun,  but still think I need a 22lr. I might wait for a good deal on the CZ offerings. See them praised alot.

I picked up a Savage mark 2 VB in 22 LR that shoots right with the CZ using cheap CCI standard velocity ammo.

Have a american 22lr predator model, received at Christmas from the wife. Haven't had much time to shoot it, probably only 500 or so rounds. Shoots great without a suppressor but I am having major poi changes with the suppressor, close to 12" high and to the left and the groups open up from a quarter size to 1.5".   I am suspecting the threads are not concentric and square to the bore but not getting baffle strikes. I also have had 17hmr version for a few years no problems at all. Just keep in mind they are a lower budget gun so don't expect 77/22 quality.

This. Do it and don't look back. Accurate, fun and quiet if you suppress.

I love my American rimfire predator model 8334, it's plenty accurate and very easy to shoot. I have several of the common bolt action .22lr's and it has become my most used one for the past few years.

I really like mine. I just wish they made a left handed one.

I ordered one of these a couple months ago after shooting my Ruger for a year. Just waiting for the 18” Proof barrels to show up.

I’ve got a Ruger American predator, and with match ammo have shot many sub MOA groups at 100 yards.  I do have the advantage of an indoor 100 yard underground rifle tube, but the rifle is capable of excellent accuracy.

I love mine.

No reason to get a different brand if you already have 10/22 magazines.

I have shot Ruger American Rimfires a lot since they were introduced. More recently I bought a Ruger Precision Rimfire in 22LR. I like it quite a bit more than the American because it’s adjustable and a bull barrel is standard. The 17HMR Ruger Precision Rimfire will likely be my next purchase.

The only American I still like enough to not replace with a Precison Rimfire is my Target model in 22WMR.

22LR Ruger Precison Rimfire and dedicated 22LR SBR. Both sound great with the AAC Element 2. I’ve not found that the Precison Rimfire needed anything not offered from the factory but a bipod, if that’s your thing.

22WMR Ruger American Target:

I liked it a lot as it came from the factory but I decided that a larger bolt knob  (note: the bolt knob on the target models are already larger than the standard American) and I ended up having it fluted as well.

Before cerakote and the 22WMR brass was put in the bolt knob.

Finished work. I can’t recommend The Polished Knob enough for any bolt work.

As some one that has about 2k rounds through mine. It is a great deal. I purchased the 16 inch barrel that is threaded. I like it, and the price I paid for it.

It likes 22 Norma ammo. It also manages to put nice 1 inch groups at 100 yards. From a supported bench, with sand bags, no wind.

Your Mileage May Vary.

For under $300 they're a hell of a nice rifle.

I liked the .22LR version that much I bought another one in .17HMR.
