Remington was very good about replacing parts for me. I bought a used 597 with no bolt handle and they sent me one for free.

I have a couple 597's. I have 10rd mags only and never had a problem with them. Although sometimes getting the 10th Rd in the mag can be a chore. I found that keeping the gun clean helps. After about 500rds it's starts to have ejection and feeding problems.

I've had a factory 30 round mag for my 597 for probably 8 years. I've never used it once. So I am no help in this thread

I had one years ago. I had one 30 rd mag when they first came out and didn't have a lot of luck with it. Definitely get a VQ extractor, it will do wonders with reliability. Second, get the VQ target hammer, it improves the trigger feel ridiculously well. I had the heavy barrel that I had threaded for my suppressor. Wish I would have never sold that gun...

Just shoot with WD40 every few hundred rounds.  They tend to be pretty accurate.  Mine is much better than my 10/22 with regards to accuracy but the quality lacks.
