I'd say it looks pretty darn good. I'm not much of a semi-gloss AR type of a guy though. |

Very Nice. What is the weapon and the grips? Those cocking serations are really different. I like them. |

The 1911 is an old Wesson Dan Pruitt I traded for. The finish was almost gone in spots and I was bored one day. Damn thing alway shot great, now it looks as good as it shoots. The grips are by VZ, I have them on two of my pistols. You can find more here |

You guys/gals have done an awesome job on your weapons! I never once thought about painting my weapons until now. Thanks for the great ideas!

I recently purchased a Duracoat refinishing kit from Lauer Custom Weaponry. I got flat black and dark earth with the kit. I first painted the small parts black to a used Desert Warrior I had recently picked up. Then I decided to redo a TLE in dark earth with black small parts. I wasn't all that pleased with the color of the dark earth so I mixed a little of the black in to darken it up. However, it didn't actually darken it as much as it changed the tint . Oh well, I can always redo it once again if I decide I don't like it . It does match the Ranger green Gunner grips pretty good though...
Kimber TLE in dark earth/black: Here's the TLE with the Desert Warrior and Warrior (with Brownell's Baking Laquer Coyote Tan frame) for comparison: Here's link to a thread I started about my home refinishing: Home Refinishing Thread |

Actually, it looks great. Iv'e mixed some Duracoat colors and then gone, WOW! that looks sweet. Some pics of a .458 SOCOM that ReconRover and I just refinished. I couldn't resist messing with them in photoshop. More pics. to come. ReconRover is headed to TX with it and promises to shoot feral hogs and post pics. |

That's what I'm talking about...simple and very effective. Nice work!! |

This is a great look and I love how the edges on the pattern were allowed to spray out and get fuzzy. I saw pics of your rifle over in the AR-10 section and came over here looking for info on how you did it. After finding your post about the straw and pine needles, you are making me want to try something similar - but with mesquite branches and palo verde needles. |

Looks great. I did a Remmy 700 in OD green and it was almost a satin finish. I discovered while doing the 2 model 10's I posted the pic of that..the OD green goes on in a shade of grey almost. I didn't realise that when I did the rifle and subsequently put a really heavy coat on. I was going to re do the rifle because it didn't match the color of the wheelguns. (Same owner) but when I told him he said he didn't care about the color as long as it was coated good. I know I posted these before but..for comparison |

My hat's off to all the artists out there. I like those camo jobs where the gun disappears or doesn't have any shadows. Cool.
My taste is boring in comparison as I'm looking for the blacks or dark grays. I was thinking about a charcoal color, but have no idea what that would look like (and no, I wouldn't want to try to mix it). If that isn't possible, I'll just go with matte black. I am curious about the other versions of black that Duracoat offers - socom, combat, diamond, etc. If some boring people like me could post pics of their drab arms, I'd greatly appreciate it. |

That's exactally what I want to build. Iv'e got the lower and the scope so far. Nice looking rifle. |

I've been wondering how one of these paint type finishes would hold up on a revolver.
It looks like there may be a use for those old blue worn revolvers sitting on pawn shop shelves all over the country.

Very nice, details? |
||
|
Stunning. That's the first time I seen someone back date an AR. What's that reddish brown "smudge" to the lower right of the mag release button? |
||
|
I haven't done any of my revolvers with gun kote yet..although my model 10 is looking like a good victim.. I know dry firing one that's been finished will leave the locking lug marks on the cylinder like all revolvers do. However I'd be very surprised if you get any holster wear. |

Not the best picture my muscular buttocks! So what does it take to be a Stickman friend? |

Happiness used to be a warm gun...but now it seems to be multiple pepper-poppers falling at the same time.

Doesn't hold a candle to Stickman's photo quality, but this is my first adventure using Norells. I prefer the colors fading into each other as opposed to a pattern with stencils. Used mostly tan and brown, with a few touches of OD green, considering the location the rifle will be used in (AZ desert).

Is that 100% Norrell's or did you use some krylon as well? |
||
|
being new to the site this may be of no use,but i can offer teflon based powder coating on aluminum parts for next to nothing if not free.the company i work for manufactures aluminum windows,doors,and storefront.it will stand up to temps of 300 degrees,we offer many colors.only draw back is that you will only be able to apply one color as NOTHING will adhere to the final finish.seems like the coatings you are using currently are along the same principles,strip,degrease,spray and bake.just a thought/offer

It's 100% Norells. Regular stuff on all the metal parts and both grips. Chickened out and used the air-dry on the stock and optic. |

enforcer22,
Please stop posting your Flectar pics, you are making me cry..... One of these days I'll try a flectar pattern, and if it comes out half as nice as your version, I'll dance a little jig for joy! |
|
|
I'm going to do a desert flectarn for a guy when his rifle is built. Its going to be light coyote brown, dark coyote brown, reddish brown, and sand. Its going to look wicked. I'll email you & John a pic of it when its done. When your at SHOT go buy GAP's booth & look at the Flectarn I did for George. I didnt get a chance to take a pic of the rifle but its bad a**. Joe |

I'm always interested in seeing pics of your work ([email protected]). I won't be at SHOT this year as needs of the department have mandated I remain local. |
||
|
That looks pretty good. How about some more pics from different angles and a description ofthe colors, etc. |

Couldn't you have something like a pistol grip with a thumbhole that attached to the rear? |
||
No Aim "Yes I'm listening. What?"

Sigh... Nope. No evil features so no... flash hiders pistol grips grenade launchers collapsable stocks thumb hole stocks in order to have removable mags. If I pinned the mag in requiring tools for removal, I can have any evil features I want. That grip actually works well, kinda like a traditional rifle feel. It just look funky. I might just hit it with the Alumahide but that stuff takes forever to cure. (weeks and weeks). I'm happy with the way it turned out; it handles and shoots well. |
