I have been looking for something like these two for a while,  but with smaller dimensions.   Something with a  4.5 to 5 inch blade.

It would be a replacement for my TAK1, that I daily carry.
I want something with less belly and more pointy.  This would be a dedicated defensive knife,  so daily tasks aren't a concern.

I was looking at the Seal pup, but that has too much "sweep" for me.  I was also looking at Tops Apache,  but it's a bit big and I don't like the small guard (that's an injury I wish to never experience again).

Thoughts? And it doesn't need to be expensive.  It would be a one time use thing anyway,  most likely .

Look for a vintage Blackjack, they patterned the Randalls at first. A Blackjack model 5 might fit the bill or a model 125 if you want a drop in the point.

Buck 891 GCK (Ground Combat Knife), discontinued model but you can still find them, I have a limited edition in 3V blade and gray G-10 scales, very very stabby.

This is relevant to my interest as I don’t want to carry my Randal but would love a quality replica.  Smaller would be cool as well.  I found some replicas I believe by Cold Steel and SOG, but they stopped making them and are now collectible themselves.  The price on a few I found were approaching the cost of a Randal 1 they copied.

Did a quick look and those are really nice!  Except for the $300-$400 of course.

Old Man Bo wants you to USE your Randall.

My 1-7 is a bit too big for camping. So I have a Model 5-5 (ordered 2018 - getting built & delivered next month) just for this purpose.

So what are you wanting to spend. I have a blackjack 13 halo, and a few knives from a maker on this site. If its a budget blade, I'd look hard at a SRK-C. Not a randall design but a dream knife for the money. Its on sale at Midway as well. A quality Randall or clone is going to cost some money.

That Buck does look good.  If I decide to get a real knife,  aka that Blackjack, I think I'll save up and see if I can find a used Randall.
Lol, but then I would probably make it a safe queen.

That combat woodsman looks almost perfect.
How long before it hits the used market for $150?

I’m not suggesting it’s over priced.  But for a single use blade as suggested by the OP, $300-$400 IS over priced.  And yes I think the SRK-C is a hell of a deal.

Solid blade, the spine and tang is much thicker than Buck typically uses. Good 5160 steel and not too expensive, around 160-170 bucks, but Midway sold the last of theirs on sale for 119.99.

Ebay still some of the tanto 893's for around 140.

My 3V limited run is unobtainium now, there's one on eBay for 450 plus shipping. The limited run Bucks tend to hold and even increase their value if you don't beat them up.

Chris Reeve Green beret would be my pick in that size, shape and price range.
